I've been building a 59AB with crab distributor and am about done with it. I've got an old Mallory coil but am having trouble figuring out where to put it. Would some of you post pics of coil mounting ideas for 59AB's with stock generator location and crab distributor? Here's some pics of some possible locations that I've being toying with... Ideas please.

You are likely putting generator in stock location, so a stock '42-48 mount would be in a logical location beside the left front of generator and right above coil connection on cap.
From the stock bracket, modify as needed to mount coil hrizontally or vertically. Cooler than on the head.

Yes, stock generator location. If I remember right, the stock coil location for this engine is right up front above the head, vertically, using a couple intake bolts. Of course the coil you mention is much different looking than this round cylinder shaped one. Is this what you mean Bruce? Maybe a pic would help, let me look for one. Have you ever seen any other locations which looked "right"?

    PS, it's going in a 40 pickup.

OK, here are two stock type mounts, which did you mean Bruce?

But I think my radiator hoses will interfer with one of them since my hoses go perfectly horizontal once they leave the water neck on the head....see third pic of the stock engine currently in the pickup.

    Whatcha think?

The first of the three is stock...from there, you build, though it is easy to fasten a round-coil-to-flat-surface typw coil holder to the stock holes with coil vertical. Under the alternator is a pretty crowded neighborhood...***emble all parts and belts before puttin anything there.
