stranded in ok city for halloween weekend

ok..i'm going to be in town from the oct 26 thru nov 5th...and stuck at the La Quinta on Meridian the weekend of the 30-31 of oct...hopefully i'll be buying dinner for the Rolling Bones crew, depends on where they end up that nite of the 30th..and any other issues they may incurr...anything happening there that weekend???anyone need help with a project?? i hate motels and company training ****.and i'll be wheelless cause we aren't allowed to rent cars while on company training sessions...they pay me so it's basicly like being at work..pm for my cell... i'm up for anything "Hamb-able"...any topo's nearby???chuncks of 30 31 model a 5 window rear lower body???

 

well i'm flying out in a few hours..not to sure if i'll have internet access in ok city..but providing any issues/delays, i should be meeting up with Ken and Keith from the Rolling Bones this friday nite.......so if any one else is around this coming weekend in ok city, i'm hangin at the La Quinta on sheridian off the I-40....so trick or treat, either or way, stop on by, i'll be watchin for any Hamb-mobiles to roll into the motel lot....email if nothing else, i can check that thru my cell phone....vswv8@yahoo.com

they can't tell you what to do on your off hours or they need to pay you round the clock. how will they know if you rented a car and payed for it out of your pocket?

 

For all you hard nose guys with all the hard *** advise above, just remember, a lot of folks are happy to have a job, and aren't in a position to rock the boat.

I have friends in Tulsa, El Reno, OKC and a few other places...even Stillwater and Norman. Don't know what the problem is.

well i got here..don't have an opinion about it ...company training, and being away from home ****s..so why try and form an opinion on some place when it'll be biased...on the up side, the La Quinta has a puter and the net so...as far as renting a car goes, well lets just say that would trake away from Lil Beasts funds...Randy knows me well enough to know that company policey wouldn't stop me.....my biggest complaint is the cheap *** cell phone company the wife put us on...giving me problems , but....

anyway, i'll make some calls tomorrow..Randaddy, think i'll take ya up on your offer...not gonna have much time thru the week, i'll be busy studying and getting hip to the new service link stuff..all the younger guys back at the shop need for me to be able to come back and get them hip...this cl*** is pretty much the future of heavy truck repairs, so...

Rich, ya hit it right on the nose...commission shop..i make half of what i did last year...


i'll be checking in nitely here,,,,this weekend is the down time i gotta fill...hopefully the Rolling Bones guys make it in this friday nite...seeing some rods like they have would help ease the pain on being away from home...even if i was at Disneyland...

Jim, I'll connect with Mark and we may just drive over and meet up with you. It really depends on what he wants to see. I can take him to Hargroves in Arcadia and to POPs on Rt. 66, Bricktown and the bombing memorial, etc. as well as cruise by some of the local hot rod shops. Just depends on what Mark wants really.

South Meridian is not the safest part of OKC.

Gives me the creeps driving down Meridian going home from the airport late at night and with my doors locked!

you must work for the airlines, out of town training usually was no car rental money and $25.00 per day for food, and if you dont like that you can work someplace of your choice. They wondered why nobody liked going.

OKC for the most part is a **** hole... however they DO have a Sonic on every corner... and brick town isn't all that bad. Isn't there some "Fryer" place on Route 66? They had a bad *** chicken fried steak there, and coincidentally a bunch of HAMB friendly cars rolled up to the joint that night. I think they'll fry anything on the menu.

how can a thread asking for hospitality become a bash your city thread? we come to austin every year and only have good things to say. that's really no way to get repeat visitors back during the roundup.
we like your city and could probably find a hemoroid or two but choose to like the hospitality of a few good host.

It's not that bad. I've been through that place quite a bit over the years and they've been improving it every year. It's actually gotten to be pretty decent.
