This is a pretty ****py picture, but maybe someone will know what this is. Only info I have is it's a Cadillac engine from "the 60s." I can get it cheap w/ the trans and I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth it.

    Thanks, I appreciate it.

  2. It's a 472 or a 500. Either way, a good torque monster.

Oh, yeah, worth it, if it's worth it to you.

    I concur, it's a 472
Rear wheel drive Cadillac and from a '68-'74 it will be a 472. '70-'74 fwd Eldorados were 500 inch. '75 and '76 they are all 500 inch.
'68-'71 are the higher compression engines and the highest torque output. Compression would be 10 to 10.5
If you like and want a Caddy engine, I would grab it for $50. Otherwise two fools will have collided.

I have a low compression '75 500 in my '55 Merc. Bone stock but with a 850 Holley double pumper and Sanderson headers, th400 trans and a 3:42 posi rear gear. Did a 9.24 1/8 mile run wearing regular street radial tires at the Billetproof Drags in Florida this weekend.
