HELP NEEDED at LA CARRERA 54 Olds control arms

    Our freinds racing the Lucky Taco 1954 Oldsmobile [PanheadGuy on here] in the LaCarrera ,Mexican road race may be in need of some upper and lower control arms and cross shafts ASAP I dont know for sure but I think 54 is by itself on some parts
    Maybe some suspention parts not known yet
    Trying to round up leads now
    They managed to get off road and rolled up on their side,They are in route now to make repairs to try and soldier on
    Full damage is not know but believed to be repairable
    If anyone would have any parts please call me as I can contact them
    They have I think 6 or 7 days left down there so between limping and getting them some parts maybe part of the race can be salvaged

    They have gone a long way from West Bend,Wi to give up now

    Does this Qualify for a Sticky?

  4. lowers appear to interchange between 54 back to 39...according to Hollander # 32...its nor listing the uppers...know of one Olds off I-35 and 287 close to Dallas - should be one closer down San Antone way.

    The books I had stop at 53 and start at 55 on the uppers

    has anyone contacted Sled in Mexico??? he may be the best source for a quick fix as he seems to be well connected in and around those parts.

    Just goes to show the power of the net.....
    I made a post hoping to find a lead on parts to send,or be sent to a great group of guys I met a year ago.And it turns into a Ferrari dealer in Mexico city seeing the post and giving them a place to work out of
    All the tools you could need and the car on a lift .....Beats the hell out of a flashlight and a hotel parking lot

    Gah! Terrible news but a common theme at La Carrera. Hope they can get those repairs made and get a couple of good days in racing!

    How could any true racer not be pulling for them at this point? I'm not sure how much if any of Clyde's team stayed with him but he found a co-piloto from another team whos car was out and they are going at it. I hope to hear from Clyde and see hop he did this evening.

    EDIT: Sorry for the mistake but I was given some incorrect information regarding Clyde's day 6results. I reported he finished 1st in class on day 6 however I just saw the day 6 results snd saw he finished in 2nd in class. Still very amazing all things considered.

    Can you believe it... Clyde Morter's co-piloto left and went home leaving Clyde to fend for himself. Well Clyde hung in there and did whatever he had to do to overcome all adversity. Not only did Clyde get the car AND THE Trailer repaired but one of the team mates from another crashed car offered to fill in for the rest of the race. Not only did they finish again yesterday but the won what is well know for being the most dangerous stage of the race... La Buffa! Unreal.

    Today is the last day and they will start out by running La Buffa a second time only this morning it will be very slippery unlike yesterday. Then they will hit the high speed stages all the way back to texas. Good Luck Guys!!!

    As the mechanic of the Lucky Taco team I'd like to thank all of you for your attemts to help. In the end we wound up getting a friend to give up his weekend and fly from ORD to Mexico city to bring us the lower cross shaft we needed. I managed to straighten out the lower arm using the hydraulic tounge jack on a car hauler. We got the lower arm assembled in Mexico city (cold and rainy) then had to load up and head for Quetero. There I found a couple of mechanicos with a rosebud and we got the upper arm twisted back good enough to finish assembly. Did our best with the toe in and off we went. In the mean time my bro Clyde came down with the shits followed by a sinus issue and laryngitus so he gave up the drivers seat to a kid named Tony and they got a 1st and 2 3rds. Not too shabby. Pretty sure if Clyde hadn't racked up the car early we could have been in the top three.
    By the way I met Sled down there and he seems like a real nice guy but couldn't help with finding the parts we needed.
