A chopped 32 3 window big block Chevy, I thought i would post a few pictures of the cars the sop has completed this year. Rex www.realhotrods.com Custom Auto loveland Colorado
A magnificent car with the dopiest and most awkward set of headlamp conduits I have ever seen. WHAAAAAATTTTT?
the conduit is changed to a stock style now and lowered down. This was a e-bay project and to work with the budget, we used most of the parts that came with the car. Rex
Looks good. What are your tire and wheel sizes? I am going to be needing tires on my hiboy soon. I would like to change its look.
Tim,s point is that all of a sudden they are all over the HAMB including an ad in the services offered section.
You have to do what it takes to keep your talanted help busy and pay the bills. You don't want them to get away.
this has been one of the most productive years for the shop we have completed a total of seven turn key projects this year I think that is good for a seven man shop and i would love to keep that momentum going, and we want to give back some to out hot rod industry, i posted a 5 window seat build that can be done on any budget and with very minimal tooling. I can't make everyone happy just ask the wife. just my two cents. Rex Rogers I will get back to you on the tire size. I am the shops metal shaper and some times i lose a bit of the details.
I don't care if you are slow, or busy as all getout. Keep showing us pics! You guys have great style and talent.
You should post up a build thread of the "Bell Engine Crankshaft Special", or the "Don Waite Compe***ion Roadster #500". Or start a build thread on the "Norman Timbs Special" THAT would be sweet!
I enjoy your pictures. If you listen to everyone on here you would do something else for a living. I have seen several of your cars and they are right on the money and of course built to the customers choices. I am real found of the Henry Astor Deuce tudor sedan that was in the GNRS a few years ago. Keep the pictures coming.
I am actually the one who restored Don Waite's #500 roadster. I got it ready for the 50th Oakland show. It got second in cl*** to the Jazzy Nelson car that was just restored. I left the original chrome and original small seat pad (torn) and got marked down. I sold it to Steve Memisian at the encouragement of Dave Crouse when Steve just began his journey into the hot rod world (he was into nautical items and knew nothing about hot rods). I was offered a spot in the NHRA museum but I was told I had to redo some chrome plating. I choose to leave it as it was, and that is how they purchased the car. They did some detailing and placed it in the museum. This was done before digital cameras. I have some photos laying around I will try to scan and show the condition that it was in and the process. The coolest part was the Charlie Markley (from the Markley brothers bonneville racers) brought over for me to borrow one of their ex Bonneville race Desoto's to allow me to mock up engine mounts and begin the restoration. Don Waite came up with his wife to the 50th and stood next to the car. He had not been to a car show for a very long time. He was very pleased to see it revived. He is happy it is in the museum. It is an awesome machine. You really have to look at it carefully.
I would love to see some more pictures of the 500 roadster, Dave only has a few shots of what he did at the shop. i have never had the cahnce to view the car in person. The shop did do a presevation on Don Waits' Vita C car. One of the best parts of restoring or preserving these cars is the emotional attachment that the owners the orgional builders and the restores get connecting back to our hot rod roots. Since the 500 car Mr. Memisian has went on to restore and build a collection of hot rods and race cars and started the American Hot Rod Foundation in order to preserve our heritage. I will scan and post some photos in the next couple days. I have to find them. It was a fun journey with the car. But it is a burden to be a caretaker. Steve is a good guy.
I will start a thread for the sedan. And would love to see a thread for Don Wait and all his cars we still have one of his cars in storage awaiting restoration. Rex
