I'm looking at a 55 Chevy 6 with a three speed with O/D. Do you know if there is anyone making synchro kits for them. I've seen them for the early Ford 3 speeds (39-47?). But not any for the the Chevys. Can anyone help. Thanks, Jim
Try ebay,,lotta NORS parts there Not 100% but I would think standard 3 speed ones are teh same as teh OD is an add on http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Sync...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item563360fd15
Heres the Prob... "kit for 1966-up Saginaw 3 or 4 Speed transmission." The one I'm looking at is a 55.
ok,,but was more saying look theer you may find what you need,,or even ask those guys if the have them here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NOS-...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item4ceb94628f
No current 3spdOD shifter available as far as I know. There was back in the day. Heathen probably has one in his stash of stuff... What I did was take a standard 3spd setup and modify the mounting bracket so that the shifter rods would clear the solenoid. Don't get a Hurst Indy, they are ****. Get an old Synchro-Loc off Ebay and make up the mounting bracket.
the synchro ***y for those old transmissions looks like this, although this one is for an older model.
55 thru 64 overdrive chevy trans used a non syncro first reverse gear. Nobody makes a kit to make them syncro. A saginaw three speed overdrive is a full syncro trans. OldWolf
Well I did my share of tearing up the 2nd syncro's in them, but nothing that I changed looked like what little wing or squirrel listed there. The parts that went looked more like the Sag ones that little wing shows but that wouldn't be it for the older trans either. When the #2 syncro failed it would lock up the 2-3 fork in neutral and only 1st and rev would work.
