How have some of you guys routed your exhaust on 49-54 chevs. Specifically, with a SBC. I have Walton Fab motor mounts and tranny crossmember as well as Sanderson headers for stock suspension/steering. I hope there is someone out there with this combo that can help. The car is pretty low so I want to keep it tucked up as far as possible. The area I am concerned about is between the headers and the rear of the trans. If you have pics post em up!
A good exhaust shop should be able to route your pipes from your headers over your K-member and between the tranny and the frame rails. It's a tight squeeze, but that's how mine's done and nothing hangs below the frame. These are the only pics I have at the moment, but I think you get the idea.... Bryan
my pipes are below the crosmember and it can be not so good with a low car, havent tore anything off, but on gravel some crunching can occur got a M2 front with lowering springs so the crosmember is very low too the picture is a very nice set up
RUSK that is exactly what I was lookin for! I was under the car looking around and it looked pretty tight under there. I wondered if it could go through there and it looks like it can! Thanks alot for the pics. I am gonna try and do it myself so we will see how it goes!
I now have Chevy II over the frame headers and it runs between the frame and the rocker panel. Rusk's car is a bad ass in everyway...
