    Is this Dore's new Kustom?

I talked to Rick Dore at last years Starbird show, he was describing his latest project
I believe it could be this 34 Ford with skirts. (Pictures were taken at SEMA.)

When is the last time you saw an early Ford tail dragger?

    Any more pics please!!!!!!!

    Happy Trails,

    Mick

I have a "Ford Times" with a roadster or cabriolet that looks just like that that. About 1950 or so. I bet Dore has the same mag, cause it's unmistakeablely the same. And how often do you see a taildragging 34 with 36 rear fenders, skirts, filled hood sides and molded headlights?

My mag is buried in the attic, but does anyone else know the one I'm talking about? Post a pic if you have it. It's the same issue as the Niekamp roadster.

It had his "RD" crest on it so I would say yes. [IMG] The pic's don't do the paint justice. It really lit up the Ford display area.

I did the concept art for that car. Rick got the idea for the rear fenders from Doug Jerger (son of SQUEEG) and myself almost simultaneously. We both thought it would be hard to do a custom with a 33-4 because of the severe rocker shape along the bottom of the car. We thought the '36 fenders would not only fix the problem but lengthen the car as well. Rick won best in show with that car along with that came a Larry Erickson designed bronze(?) casted sculpture, nice! Another concept come to life for me is the blue Cad he had there as well, it won some sort of GM award as well.

  9. Was your concept drawing in that color? I think a darker color would also make it look bigger.

Great job on the concept! At first glance I thought it was the orange 36 redone, because of the similar scoop on the hood sides.
Are you talking about the blue 53 cad with the metal cover over the back seats? Or is this a new blue cad?

I was just going to say that it would look better black.

"Was your concept drawing in that color? I think a darker color would also make it look bigger." Actually, I did two concepts, the first was kind of a quickie and I did it wearing a much darker Washington Blue. The second, final piece was rendered as close to the Dixie cup paint sample that I could get. I have to admit, it would not be a "Rick Dore Kustom" with a more trad. custom color.

I really like it as well. Congrats on another concept rendering coming to life. Hopefully it will be shown here in Detroit in March at the Autorama. I'm really looking forward to seeing it in person.

Man that looks like a car I could just pull up a chair and stare at it for half a day.

Congrats to Jeem and Mr. Dore.

And I'll hafta respectfully disagree on painting that car black. Black would hide too much of the shapes of this car and cause all the reflections to be so harsh that it would camouflage all those beautiful curves.

I have to agree, painting dark colors would hide the cars lines.
Ever wonder why most concept cars are painted light colors such as mettalic grey(silver)?
It is so the lines and shape of the car can be seen.

I wouldn't have picked the blue for the '53 Caddy, and that would have been a big mistake.
The paint job is as wild as the design. When you see the Caddy in person you can't get away
from it The color was the perfect choice & way too kool. I hope Dores latest project has the
same kind of hypnotiz'n paint job.

I can still see the Caddy's paint in my dreams. Yep your right, I'm a Kustom pervert.

    Job well done Jeem!!!!

...And I think that color hides the lines.

It's a nice car with very subtle, traditional modifications with an outlandish mini-truck color on it... It conflicts me.

If not black, then a nice dark candy of some kind...

It is a nice car though. Rendered and executed nicely.

what I want to know is how many hours does Rick Dore actually have in labor into to any of his cars for that matter any of the supposed big names in customizing : John D'agostino, Richard zoochi, Fred Warren,Michelle Ness and all the other queers that get the acknoledgement for being accomplished custom car builders , A big checkbook does not make you a Custom Car builder at least not in my book. I don't care if they are nice guys or not.

I saw that car at the shop, the color is intense.

I usually hang out at the VW shop next door-- Doug let us take a peek at that was going on. He had a lot of SEMA work going thru there from what I understand.

Did I stand there at the VW shop with Doug and have a Cheeseburger with you? Do you have the Buick?

Death to anyone that doesn't do ALL the work on their car....I mean ALL...including casting the block and stomping peruvian berries for the paint pigment.....which I'm SURE Kustomcl***ics has done with all his stellar creations.

    Jeem-
That's Fish. He works there (that VW shop is called Doug's... confusing, huh?) I'm trying to get him to bring his Buick to the Invaders show-- my car won't fit in.

I just moved here from NJ, and tho all my background is in VW's I find myself liking the traditional rods more and more. Kinda why I'm here. [IMG]

PS: I saw your PU in the parkinglot at the Peoria Swap. I think I spent half an hour pouring over it, waiting for the owner to come back. Found out you're a regular here. Small world.

    Sorry to jack the thread.
