Yesterday we had our 2nd Hot Rod Rumble at our local track. Perfect weather, big turn out for Albuquerque standards, everyone had a ball. A few pics. Look at the smile on this guys face just sitting there by himself. Suppose he's having a good time?
My buddy and I took turns running the 39. Not fast at all but a blast, least we didn't shell the toplaoder or break an axle. Dave Malcomn brought out his restored old Offy powered sprint car. Couldn't stage it of course but they did push him off and make a run down the track. Damn, that Offy sounded sweet!
Buick built for Bonniville. Don't know who owned it but had some real interesting handmade speed equiptment on a straight 8. Not set up for drags but he made some p***es anyway. Trophy for best looking. Killer looking Duece highboy with a blown hemi. He couldn't open it up all the way, very capible of out running the safety standard (no cage) Trophy for slowest. 4 banger Jeep, never caught his ET but went thru at 44 mph. Trophy for fastest street car. Awsome 55, 9.95et at around 135 mph. And it really is streetable!
Well dangit.. I just went and posted all of my pics in the old thread from the first HotRod Rumble. Was a good day! That was one good show, you all know how to show people a good time! I wish it was a HR only day, no new stuff, no street bikes, just old iron running the track I was the Jeep guy.... best was 27.5 @44.5... I still got the best trophy Haha! "Get in front of the car!!! Get the car in the picutre!! "" well tell the dang photographers to move!!
Good thing I didn't make fun of the Jeep ,huh. That was a cool trophy! Thought I'd have a chance at it, turned out I was like the 5th slowest. Would be cool if they would give us a Hot Rod only show, say a 66 or earlier only thing! Think I'll work on seeing if it would be possible. I know there is talk of bringing in some FEDs next summer, maybe that could be the one. I wish they would let us have some eleminations too but it seems most like it being just heads up time onlys. Sorry Ratfink749, didn't realize you had brought up the old thread till after I posted this one, I would just added mine to it.
Metalman, what were you running? What would you have said about the Jeep, c'mon you know you want to say I know it's not a true hot rod but it's hot in my opinion, haha! Plus it's got a flathead, come one! I think someone with a camera said to mount it like a hood ornament... Cletus may have as well?
