I've brought home my 29 and starting on it this weekend. While money is tight and waiting on suspension parts to be delivered for my ch***is, my idea was to screw my body down to a piece of 3/4" plywood and begin the chop so I can continue making forward progress. It's a Murray body and alot of the wood is rotted out. I was looking for the proper dimensions so I could begin bracing it to the proper widths and ensuring all was square before just whacking at it. Yes, I did a search already and came up with ch***is dimensions but was looking for body. I'll admit I'm not the best at the search function though. Any help would be appreciated.
i think i would get that body bolted down to a level and square frame before starting to chop it,especially a 4-door...then brace it well
That was my frame of mind and was why I was screwing it solidly to the 3/4 ply. To subs***ute for the frame, so both could be worked on at the same time. I'm shortening the body, removing the rear doors, to make it an extra cab truck. Keeping the ch***is the original wheelbase, and was why I was looking for these dimensions, so the body would be screwed down square and solid. Thanks for the link guys.
Anyone have anything with dimensions of the width of the body. Outside of bodyline to outside of bodyline right behind the rear door to be specific.
Sounds like your putting the cart before the horse here. In an effort to move forward you may be setting your self back a whole bunch. Getting that body on its original mounting points will go a long way towards a quality job. Unless that's not important to you. Work on other things until your ready to tackle the ch***is. Someone can give you the dims all day long but they will never line up. Patience Gr***hopper. One step at a time.
