had corvette v/c's when 1st built 65-67 then put M/T's on when had heads done by Mondello & added roller rockers needed the M/T's for the added clearance............

if you walked 10 miles, in the snow, uphill both ways, and had to pry them from a dying grizzly bear's paws...
I would stick with painted stock, a nice clean engine looks good in its stock color.

Couldn't agree more, alot like badmouthing the early Edelbrock stuff. Pioneer Visionaries both for sure.

That's what I went with on my Olds 455 that's going in my '59. The vintage Edelbrock intake & old Mallory helps complete the 60's "look" I was after.

Why get so hung up on the word "traditional"?....How about CL***IC. Some things are just timeless, cool and right. M/T's on my wife's 68 Roadrunner, and two sets on my twin engine AA/FA.
Funny thing is, I hated those covers back in the day...now they make me feel all warm and fuzzy. I think your question should be, leave 'em cast between the ribs?, polish them out, or paint them engine/body color?

Thanks I was hoping you could scan them. I know this will sound like I'm splitting hairs but I don't see the "cl***ic M/T" valve covers that most people think about. I like all the ones in your scan. Very rare and desirable. I'd love to see the rest of the pages if you have the time.

Personally I don't care if anyone thinks that they are "traditional" or not (I'm starting to hate that term as much as rat rod) I do think that it is important for some guys to know the true dates that parts were available so that THEY can decide if that time frame meets the criteria for their build if they care at all. He must have cared or he wouldn't have asked.

As soon as anyone asks about parts dating the "anti traditional police" come out of the wood work trying to convince the asker that he is making a big mistake in caring about when parts were available. They say "Do what you want". He was! He wanted to know when they were available.

I'm a history buff and want the history to be retold accurately. That's all.

I'd never have a set on my rides but that is my taste. They came along after the golden age of hotrodding in MY mind. AS I said MY mind. You and others may not agree.

if you mean mill in some fins like the rest of the cover you would mill all the way through as it is indented on the insides

if you search M/T you may find them as I snagged them from here on another M/T - Mickey Thompson thread. I'm at work right now, I'll try to remember to scan the rest tonight.

I got a set with the breathers on one side( circle track). they may not be traditional but they sure look a bunch better then the chromies that came with the car.

I think they'd work well on a 60's style build.

M/T were pure muscle cars from the early 70's !

Find some information on what they looked like back in whatever period you are looking for . If you are looking for Traditional as in the 40's or 50's then the engine is wrong . So I guess if you are looking at it that way then it really doesn't matter . Personally if you were going to use a 350 engine , they make valve cover to fit that engine that makes them look like they are really " Rocket Engine " valve covers ..
