I know a guy that just got this Merc for the stainless trim around the windows on his. It says 65,000 miles on it. The old owners told him it was parked in a garage for 35 years(sometime during that 35 years the garage roof caved in on the car and it was left like that), then the car was dragged out into the field and sat for another 15 years. When he pulled it out of the field it came out in three pieces. Still has the flathead 3spd od in it. I am taking the engine, get it home clean it up see if it turns over and what it looks like.
Looks like something I'd buy sight-unseen off ebay...hope the engine works out ok for you. You'll prolly have to break the pistons out of their bores. If so, do it from the bottom. I did this and saved everything but 2 pistons. I was gonna buy new oversize pistons anyway. Tokyo got some of the old standard size ones, some went for shift knobs and the rest went into the trash...
I don't suppose you want to cut the rear window surround outta that thing do ya? I'm lookin to 50 back window my 51. I would slide your palm, of course... Nice score on the mill. -Abone.
That looks like my friend Jukka´s Merc which he´ll restore some day... Sad anyway, but so familiar in our latitudes, wrecks, wrecks and wrecks.
