What is on average someone should charge to chop a 1951 chevy delux ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Can I ***ume it's a 2 door sedan? Also, is this going to include cut windshield gl*** and functional side windows with regulators? Those things will make a huge difference.
Just be afraid of prices toooo low, like someone telling you they can do it for $500, they are either not proud of their work or haven';t done it before and don't know the going prices. Don't worry about finding the price, find someone you trust to do it and pay them what they want.
i agree with cracker***54. all chops are different even on the same model car/truck. (rust in inner panels, bad body work, etc.) that's what makes it hard to price out. find a shop and ask to see some of their work, if you like what you see and like their hourly rates have them do it. from experience it ain't cheap but boy does it look good when done right
If you're serious about this call me 213 804 4503. I started on this 51' chevy coupe monday and I'll be done with the p***enger side today. The corners are are all finished with the file, they are perfectly smooth. I should be done with this car mid november. Click on myspace page to see all the pics. There's talk about other cars coming in but nothing solid yet!! The holes that were filled on the door tops, i didn't do those!! I will fix them later!!
I would say from 3-6K sounds about right. 3K will get you the basics but will probably leave some work for you to finish later, 6K would probably get the gl*** installed and maybe the roof in primer or rework some window surround trim in that price. The cheapest way to have it done is to have someone who knows what they are doing do it right the first time for whatever they charge. It is not to pick the lowest bidder. The one Ian Berky has pictured looks like it's coming together exceptionally nice, would be worth getting a quote from him if you're serious.
The actual chop itself is relatively inexpensive. It's all the other stuff that is time-consuming, and expensive. Leaning the B-pillars, interior garnish moldings, rounding door corners, side-windows, fitting windshield and rear gl***, modifying stainless, raingutters, etc. It just depends on how many of the custom touches you want to go with it...
i agree with all that your going to be 3k to 6k you will be closer to 6k with garnish finished roof in prime and ready for paint, its time consuming when it comes to the little details that make your chop look correct and not just chopped if ya know what i mean.good luck and remember like said earlier its not about the money its about the skills of the person doin it. Later
Hum????????????Shouldn't all those things you mentioned fall under the heading of "The Actual chop"? If the balance of those details arn't attended too, all you have is a semi-finished chop project! And............is a" semi-finished chop project" what you're in the market for? If someone quotes you a price under 5-6K in SoCal, I'd require a list of previously completed jobs, for your review, before I'd leave a deposit and your vehicle. It don't take much for the average guy to start a chop project, bringing one across the line to compleation & paint..........that's another story! S****y Devils C.C.
