Just got it a few days ago on trade. The only catch is that it will be on a small budget...

Well, to state the obvious, a windshield. I'd go with a different air cleaner. Those foam type have been known to catch fire if your engine backfires. Maybe a chrome scoop type. Maybe different headlights. Either chrome or black Dietz's. Change out the steering wheel. I'd also lose the white letter tires on the rear. Maybe a pair of bomber seats or a simple bench style. Those are small changes I'd make. It seems like a good start for whatever you'd like to do. In many ways, you can't lose, unless you make it... well you know... that "RR" word.

Oh, not to be picky, but in the pic the exhaust seems kinda low to the ground. Maybe it's just the angle of the pic.

Velocity stacks, a windsheild, and some pie-crust slicks out back. Other than that its fine the way it is.

I'd start by adding a windshield, some lakes-style headers, bias ply tires, and the aforementioned bomber seats or bench seat. Gradually transform the car to what you really want! Enjoy!

    Short term
Paint Wheels, headlights and Radiator and radiator supports black
    Put hubcaps on it.
    Change steering wheel
Get rid of the front bumper thingie.
Run exhaust under the car, straight pipes all the way out the back.
    Put on windshield.
    Change air cleaner

After you have enjoyed it a while and fixed what needs to be fixed
    New tires
    Paint
    Change distributor

You can always trade it to me and I will figure it out........lol. But I would even go as far as to putting a Flathead in it. They just look right at home in those little roadsters.

Looks like the start of a cool project!

First thing I would do is grab a handful of wrenches and tighten everything that is supposed to be tight and then lube up everything that should be loose. Grab a flashlight and look close underneath at any welds, look for stress cracks and anything that looks shoddy. Look for missing fasteners - nuts, lock washers, cotter pins. Check it system by system. Check the fuel lines, brake lines, exhaust. Look for leaks, proper clearances. Make sure there are no bare wires, check the grounds and that the battery is properly secured.

As you are giving it a close inspection, make sure the engineering looks right. Does the suspension or steering bind? Does anything rub?

Then you can make a list and prioritize what you need to do or fix.

I would definitely grab some black spray paint and tone down some of the red. Throw on the windshield add some hub caps and enjoy that ****er!

I'd start with a new frame that steering box hanging out in the wind ****s, you can find an model A frame, box it from the front crossmenber back to the trans mount and then switch over what's good on the old frame and **** can the junk, the car has potential you just have to make it safe and drivable..............................:D

  19. Are the Cops after you allready?

Maybe you should find photo's on what you would like it to be... and start morphing it into shape a little bit at a time!

No rush... because as soon as you start rushing anything it starts costing "Money".

i definitely want wide whites. I'm thinking a partial hood and maybe a 33-34 grille slightly slanted. Maybe channel the body a little and find a motor with soul...hemi, nailhead

Wide whites for sure! Hell, even used WWW's could be bought pretty cheap and would look a hundred times better than what's on it now! Also, I'd run at least 10 inch diameter headlights on it. You've really got a lot of potential sittin' there, and you won't have to spend a fortune making it cool! Just take your time and do what you can within your budget. Good Luck!

If you are going to keep it for awhile try and get it registered at DMV to see if it can be done before dumping a bunch of money in it.
