Hello everyone, I am a 21 year old guy from Ontario Canada. I purchased a 1949 F1 last year and I have procrastinated far too much already! I signed up in hopes that I will find answers to my questions and solutions to my problems regarding my truck. I don’t have a lot of close help so this project overwhelms me easily. I do have a solid truck though and it has a lot of potential. I have the hood, new gl***, rear fenders, running boards, boxes full of trim, rubbers, parts etc to go with the picture. I just need to start focusing on my goals and putting them in play. Thanks, Chris
Welcome Crit011 Theres lots of help here on this board Also check out the Canadian Bacon section Ontario55
welcome chris. there're a lot of f-1 folks on here. you can probably get answers to about any question you can think of. what specific plans do you have for it? engine/******/suspension/top chop/etc.? i myself have been peddling around an f-1 panel truck for 36 years.
Hey Chris, what are you looking to do with your sweet ride? Ask away, I'm just in Campbellford, 30 miles from you man. Got ya covered, ask away!
Well when I purchased the truck, the engine and ****** were supposed to have been redone. I have not heard it fire up to date. I am getting the vacuum advance n carb rebuilt and charging my new 6 volt battery. When i get the parts back i hope to hear a sound flat head 8 fire up. If it is il keep it in, if not might be looking for a donor. As for plans I would love to go all the way with a chop and air ride but my budget probably won’t allow that. The biggest thing on my list is a new box and a reputable painter. Other then that Id like to lower it, nice wheels and tires, remove front bumper, and maybe relocate the gas tank.
if you're wanting to get the tank out of the cab and under the frame the most likely candidate i can think of is the stock ford tank from an f-1 panel truck. they run between the left framerail and the driveshaft and between the ****** crossmember and the rear end. they hold about 15 gallons (+/-). i bet the ford mounting brackets would bolt right into your pu frame, too. i'm pretty sure that the pu & panel trucks use identical frames.
