Saturday before last, cruising down Hwy 287 somewhere in north Texas, about 10:00 pm, doing about 70, I look behind in the dark and a truck was a fixin' to pass. He gets along side and I about faint. It's the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile! It looked brand new with a nice shiney weiner and mustard color paint job and chrome wheels. It passed me doing about 85 with a hot looking diesel dyke driving. I had heard that it was being restored. The grapevine must have been right. We paced it all the way into town and it kept going toward Amarillo. I almost expected Little Oscar to pop out of the top and start handing out hotdogs like back in the day in San Fernando, Ca. circa '57. pigpen
I occasionally do Stainless work for the Oscar Meyer Plant responsible for 90% of their Hotdog production. The Wiener Mobile, or whatever they call it is on site once or twice a year. I have never actually checked it out up close, but they do keep a good shine on it...
Didn't they have a few of those, located around the country to use as promotional props? I thought I heard of about a half dozen of them being built. Anyone know? I won't be able to sleep tonight without knowing so lets get the HAMB information center cranked up. Frank
Aw yes, weiner whistles. My, how the time and the booze can fog your mind! (And the trashy women too). pigpen
Hey!! Wait a minute. That's not the origional Weiner Wagon, that's some sort of Bobby Alloway/ Boyd Codington clone. That is just wrong, what happened to the origional? I'm thinking a boycot of Oscar Meyer is in order here until they bring back the first design. Frank

I saw the Weinermobile in downtown Memphis about 3 weeks ago. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me!
I saw one last year about this time for the grand opening of the Kroger in Columbia,Tn. A rare sight indeed! I still have my weiner whistle, when I was a kid. I think little Oscar passed away awhile back. Sparky

A friend of my G-friend tours the country in that thing. It may have been her. I don't think she likes hairpie, though. I wish.

My nephew did some of the layup/ F/glass bodys for them a few years back in the fiberglass shop he works at in Racine Wis.
I saw one of the Oscar Meyer hot dog mobiles going East on the 22 FWY in Garden Grove, CA about 3 months ago. Definitely grabs yer eye...

There have been several versions of it over the years and I think there may be several of the current version. I saw on in the carshow in Tyler a couple years ago and I have seen one going down I-20 twice. Looks to be on a Chevy 1 ton chassis.

I was driving the ol' ladies Focus wagon. It's pretty fast but that Weiner Mobile was really cookin'. Besides that, the Focus was loaded down with guitars and amps. Jam session don't you know. pigpen "Still a weinerin' and a doggin' and a pickin' and a grinnin'"
