Man, oh man... I've got one project on my plate, my 'A' coupe. It's a slow one, but something I've ALWAYS wanted. Truth be told, I work best when it's one project at a time. However, I couldn't p*** up this little roadster.

I'm fascinated with stripped-down thirties/forties race cars and when I saw this 'T', I knew it was my opportunity to run with it.

Now I just need an A drivetrain, perhaps a complete 'A' roller. I've seen some values out there... I'd love to keep this on a low LOW budget.

Here are some pics from the ad, I got a pretty good deal... after some bargaining. I'll snap some better pics this weekend.

    So, what do you think?

It my excitedness, I didn't add that it's in fairly good condition for being over 80 years old. Minimal rust and some poor work over the years but overall I'm pretty enthused. The turtle deck is awesome too.

    These are inspirations...

Love that car... however, I want a down and dirty popcorn maker of a 30's car. :D

I'd like to have the car ready for (and bring it to) the Roundup. I think if I can find an A roller ch***is with running gear for a good deal there wouldn't be too much else to get.

I also got new seat springs and seat covers with it. I need some stanchions and a windshield frame. I'm getting ready to post a killer want ad! :D

You're not kidding! I'm 6'2"+. There'll be some finagling to drop the seat to the floor and such.

  10. Ha! I always post that car when someone shows a '23-'25. It is soooo damn cool.

    I hear you on the heater. That's what I will doing with my '27.... 'A' ch***is, motor,etc.

How cool would it be to pull out a photo like that at your local cruise night.
That's a Pulliam & Pulliam Mercury Sport body, BTW.
They built them for Chevys and the Model T Ford.

    Brent,

Congrats on the score. There just aren't enough of these around. Hope to see some build pics soon.

Surprisingly, it may happen pretty soon... even with the budget I've created. Folks are coming out of the woodwork to help me out. Got to love the HAMB!

  21. kurtis,

Is the Mercury body for Chevrolet essentially the same as the one they made for Ford? There's another company that made one for Chevrolet, but I can't remember the name... Liberty maybe?

Sorry for hijacking- nice find Brent!

    Mac,

These bodies were first made for the Ford and then in '23 a modified version was built to fit the Chevy Superior ch***is.
Later they made bodies with doors after public demand.

Hahaha, will do! I've been distracted at work all day because of this thing. I haven't been this excited about a car in a while.

    Thanks, Fro...

I'm really focused on doing it the way it was done... no fancy parts, no juice brakes, etc. Everything will be maintained well, brakes, bearings, steering parts, and drivetrain.

I think the fun of it is being able to take the parts that normally get tossed aside and building a cool little vehicle out of them. I've got a couple leads on inexpensive and COMPLETE 1928-31 rollers that would pretty much solidify the project. I want to have a vehicle for the LA Roadster show, the Roundup, and Bonneville this year while I'm still saving for parts for my coupe.

I seriously have a fire lit under me!

Anyone have a T rear spring???:)
