Is a 1952 Lincoln 317cu. block the same as a 1957 368cu. block (minus the internals)? How about heads (minus valve size)? How about the intake?

    Thanks for the help

I believe the 368 was a MEL style and the 317 was a Y block style however it differed from the 272'292-312. some early ford HD trucks used the Lincoln style until the FE motors came along.

The 368 is a Lincoln Y-block, longer stroke bigger bore. Manifolds will interchange, along with other parts. PM me with specifics if you like.

The 368 is NOT a mel engine ,as previous larger bore/stroke.The 368 heads are higher compression, valves different and more ratio on the rocker arms. Some of The 1956 through 63 BIG truck 302/332 parts will interchange. The 332(NOT a FE 332 car engine) Crankshaft is forged steel and same stroke as the 368.The 332 truck intake has the modern large carb spacing.A 292/312 distributor will work IF you change the drive gear(1 tooth different) Main/rod bearings all the same.Truck 332 engine is gear driven with larger FRONT cam bearing and reverse cam and dist gear.I used the truck crank and 6 quart oil pan on my 368.Go to "Ocamocam" pictures to see old school hot rod lincoln 368
