i have a chevy 350 and an S10 five speed and was wandering if any of you guys know what belhousing and clutch to use. thanks
I'm using a stock late '50's truck V8 bellhousing in my truck. I had a machine shop make a 1/2" spacer to go between the 5-speed and the bell. You could just trim the input shaft and the throw out bearing collar, like the T-5 to 235 swap, too. I'm running an 11" 26-spline cutch from an '80's Camero/TransAm. I hope you're running a World Cl*** T-5 instead of the S-10 variety. If not, then take it easy, the S-10 T-5's are rated no more than about 200 ft. lbs. of torque and a stock 350 is capable of taking care of that in short order. r
Rod & Custom magazine had a really nice rundown a while back on the S-10 trans and what it took to adapt this trans to vintage and not so vintage engines. It gave all the differences in years and styles and input shafts and what clutch discs to use with which trans/engine package. Very good article. Maybe someone here knows the year and month or could scan the article for you. Tracking down the issue will probably save you a bunch of money with all the knowledge it has compiled in it. I'll see if I can find the article today unless someone else beats me to it.
I second the R&C. It even told me the way I did it after the fact! Good info. Don't know the issue, maybe several years ago, but not too long ago.

The Rod & Custom issue is October, 2006. Good article, lots of info. If you can't put your hands on this issue, PM me with your mailing address and I'll photocopy the article for you and toss it in the mail.
