Visual from the outside, the little innie bumps that the shoes ride on, and the pivot accentrics at the bottom. In the function, the earlies adjust at the bottom by hand, and the laters (yours) adjust kinda automatically at the bottom. But, you still need to adjust your's at the sides just like the earlies.

Where's the girl pic with this last post?

I have posted pictures and details many times.

The HAMB has the most and best info on the web.
Its a shame there is no index

Short story, most cars have Bendix brakes, so the parts all interchange (a**** sizes)

In this pic, the Model A spindles have 1939 Lincoln backing plates with 71-76 Chevy shoes and small parts and 1964 F250 wheel cylinders used with 1940 Ford drums

  5. Your spindles are fine. Your backing plates are fine. Your drums may be fine, slide 'em on the spindles and see if you get thread showing. If you do, they're fine. If not, get some 37-39 drums. End of story.

That's cheating, reading the answers in the threads instead of reposting the question!

Perfect! Thanks, that's all I needed to see. The index is the good tech threads that we subscribe to - it's easy to find once subscribed, but search isn't the friendliest thing in the world. Thread subscribed and picture saved - I have a feeling that is going to be the exact setup I will run. Thanks again!

Heres the rear backing plate finished and ready to bolt on.
In this case, I cut out the chevy center of the 1975 Caprice wagon backing plate and welded in a Ford center that I made on the lathe
In other words ANY 12" backing plate will work
Notice the parking brakes and the paint marker identifying the parts for any future owner
