I hauled a Desoto Firedome V-8 (yeah, it's a Hemi!), in an IH Scout for a buddy once. My latest was a Jeep 4 cyl. block in the front footwell; the back was full of misc. parts. Dad was the champ, tho- he used our '56 Buick 4door hardtop like a pickup. Several times he moved bees- as in honeybees- by removing the back seats and putting hives in there and in the trunk. The next couple of weeks were a true adventure in driving! He hauled "animal" food, flowers, trees, manure, tractor parts and tires, lumber, gasoline, kerosene, and lots of other kinds of "junk".

Fred came back from leave with a 2 month old calf. He drove from Memphis to Albuquerque in his 71 camaro and picked her up in Texas. We let her go in Mountainaire on a ranch with other cows a few weeks later.
We called him "The Texas Rustler" after that.

This was before the EXT models came out, with the rear seat out it barely fit filing up lengthwise from the middle row seats to the back doors.

Took the trunklid off my '68 Tempest so I could haul a motor out of a junkyard. Talk about looks! You'd have thought the Clampetts were driving by!!!

  11. Doc - nice stack of Mutts on that 5th wheel! That's quite a collection of uncut 151's you have there. Somebody liquidate an entire collection?

About three years ago my wife and I were on Vacation in Honolulu and 4 days in I needed a car fix.So I looked in the phone book and it said Hawaii Hot Rods,so we rented a car for the day and headed down to his shop.We had talked on the phone and he mentioned he had graduated from Wyo-tech and a couple of months after graduating the man that owned his shop died from an illness, and he bought the shop from his widow. So we were taking cars and he mentioned a recent island find that was in back under a cover. He pulled off the cover and showed me an old school 32 chopped and chanelled 5 window.pretty rusty, but inside on the floor was a pair of Sharp flatheads and a 2x2 Edmonds withe 2-97s that had flakey chrome .I asked what he was doing with them ,and said he would sell them as he will be using a SBC and thought he might have another 2x2 under a bench somewere.Well he found it ,an Evans with 2 more 97s,so we struck a deal and headed back to our Time Share to figure shipping. What we did was put the parts in 2 suitcases that we came with and went to the flea market and bought a large one for our clothes.Great to have a Wife that is such a gamer.Got home and Norie was there to see us unload the case,A lot of head shaking. What a great way to see hawaii.Dan

Once found a complete dodge rearend minus the brake drums lying in the road on the way home from school. It was wider than my bug, had it hanging out both sides with the doors tied to the rollcage.
