You can find the '56 T-bird ("Barn Bird") that this intake is for in my profile pictures, but this thread is purely to thank **** York for the beautiful job, and priceless advice and guidance during the rebuild of my 3x2 set-up...and he's just a helluva nice guy to chat with also. I would highly recommend him, and will use him again in the furure... Many Thanks ****! Here's what I started with. A matching set of 1 1/16 throat Holley 2100's, a well-weathered (and corroded) Edelbrock 553. All of the carbs were as-installed in late '56. All had idle circuits, and auto chokes. I have some questions about my old air cleaners (see link at the bottom of this post): After decoding the heads, and realizing that I had the large port ECZ-G heads, I decided that I needed an Edelbrock 573. And I picked this up (along with a couple pounds of Ohio soil) and sent it to ****...it was FILTHY!: We talked quite a bit about what I wanted, and what works, and heres what I ended up with. Manual choke on the center carb, the end carbs are now true secondaries with no idle circuits, and the 573 looks like new with fresh linkage: I really can't say enough. It really is worth getting references for vintage parts...So many old-time HAMB'ers recommended ****, and I never had a single concern... Thanks Again ****! Everyone should check out his site: http://****shotrodplace.com/ BIGREDTODD Air cleaner question: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4510037#post4510037
Thanks guys, I can't wait to get everything back together...I have the heads off getting a r/b (thanks mctim64) and need to get to detailing the rest of the engine bay... $$ spent is all worth it when the fresh parts start to come back...
Man tha's a pretty set up...have never heard anything but good stuff about ****ster and all of his products
Just another kudo. **** is a good guy and can fix you up. Thanks for posting the cool pictures of his work.
**** is a great guy. Over the phone he's walked me through the first few steps on my X1 six deuce setup. If I can't figure it out hopefully he'll let me ship it out to him to complete it.
This is a disease, no doubt...I just picked up another '57 Y-block with G heads, and scrounged up a set of Ford ECG 94's... I couldn't just let my other 3x2 manifold feel rejected...haha
Love the linkage! Sounds like you've got the right guys working on the engine. Should be a little more peppy when it gets together.
very nice set up , just talking to **** and bought the linkage. the hamb is great way of finding things out
Been following your '56 threads. My bride and I honeymooned in a '56 that looked just like yours. Black on white interior though. Word to the wise if you've not driven one much. They handle pretty much like a Frito Lay truck. They will only go around corners at low speeds........ So, if you can't resist going fast, very fast for a minute or two, do it where the road is straight! When things go awry, the rear end trades places with the front end. This is most dis-concerting and embarr***ing. It's worse with the Conti Kit. They were made to LOOK like they're going fast with some lawyer's wife at the helm, not actually go fast. I dream of a California T-Bird some day again before I die. Sitting in that car looking at those long fenders with the bubble in between was all the pay I ever needed.
BigRedTodd, thanks for the heads up. I'm about ready to go down the same path on a tripower Yblock build. I'll follow your lead.
What does he charge to do something like this i have 4 Model 59's that need rebuilt then if i can find more i will have 6 that will need to be rebuilt and then all made to go on my Offy 6 deuce intake.SO two will have to stay primary and the other four will be secondary.
Sounds cool! Just give him a call and tell him what you're after...I didn't wan't it to look over the top...I wanted to look as if it had just come off the shelf at the speed shop...he nailed it...
