UPDATE 6-29-08: I went down to my cousins place in Canon City a couple weekends ago for a family reunion, and he had this '57 210 4-door sittin on the side of his shop. For $500 I have a parts car and maybe a project. Plus I traded him my inner fenders and sedan bumper for the wagon bumper I needed. I worked on the '56 today though and got a few things done. The rearend is in, '57 Pontiac housing, open diff for now and 3.42 ratio. Lemme know what you think of the radius on the quarters.

Shoulda saved that $500 you spent for that 4 door...that woulda got you to the HAMB drags...and part way back...and you coulda put the rest of the money you're going to put into that four door into the SD...and HAVE ONE finished, drivable car...

But then again, he could finish up the 57 and make enough for many trips in the future.

John Diana's 56 delivery ran in stock cl*** not a g***er. Won stock eliminator at quite a few NHRA national events. Wagons & Deliveries were quite popular in the stock cl***es back in the day.

UPDATE 2-15-09: Since the last post I moved out of Dad's and house and ran out of money, missed HAMB DRAGS '08, and progress on the 56 stopped. I'm shooting for HAMB DRAGS '09. I decided to test my skills and try to put an axle under this car.

    Heres what I used.
-2x4 tubing, 3/16 plate, round tubing for the spring hangers, $300.

-'55-59 chevy 1/2 ton truck beam, springs, hangers, and shackles. swap meet, $50.

-'51 Olds hubs and drums. FREE from grampa. They mated right up to the truck spindles, and the 5 on 5 pattern matches the rearend:cool:

-15x4 Cragars. Found these in a junkyard in at the bottom of a tire pile where they had been for decades. Paid $20.

    -Tires, tubes and lugs, $100.

Still have to build shock mounts and a drag link. More to come! P1010592.JPG

Had to redo the tilt mechanism. The first one I made ****ed. Many thanks to KiwiKev for the build pics on his 55, he's a great fabricator! I stole many of his ideas for this car.

Really starting to like like a "Rat G***er", no offence intended. You should post an interior pic of the back of the delivery, the red and white striped area. Coming along nice! Butch/56sedandelivery.

Those cars have real potential. Lots of different ways to build them. My brother in law has had one for about 30 years and will probably have it another 30. Completed about 12 years ago, still looks good today.

I drove this one on the street for years, after retiring it from it's life as a G***er.

Hey kevin it was good to meet ya at paint and primer. and again having your car parked next to us at carnage. It's always a pleasure to meet some one with your youth, and energy, that is willing to jump in and help with any project that is thrown at him even if it's not yours. But you need to get back on the delivery...John
