Event Coverage Charlotte GoodGuys......Saturday Pics!!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by brett4christ, Nov 1, 2009.

  1. Left Greenville at 4:30 AM...got to the track at 8:15! That's 250 miles in 3.5 hours and a 15 minute stop for gas and breakfast...you do the math!

Rained/drizzled the whole way, and an hour or so after I got there! The fog lifted around lunch (see some of the first pics)!

the numbers were down, but there were still a ton of quality cars, both OT and not!

So here it goes, all 150 pics....be patient, I haven't figured out the bulk posting trick yet!

  3. Good to meet you, too, Terd! Who'd a thunk you look just like your avatar! JK!

Met Dennis Frings a year or so ago and got to see his creations then, including this detail-filled '33 Willys....

Love it when rodders aren't scared of a little bit of rain! Too many people are afraid to get their rides wet...

  10. That y-block with the six carbs is a very rare Edelbrock manifold. Good to know they are still out there.

Right back to you. Pics from Friday. Overcast. Interesting stuff at the swap meet. I couldn't afford everything I wanted! As usual. Everyone was really nice. Very good representation.
Took a late model / ricer buddy. I'm converting him. His vision of a LoCost now includes a track-T nose!

Not to hijack this thread, but more pics from Friday:
REALLY wanted the pick-up. Running. All the gauges and an underdash heater. Hope whoever got it, does the right thing.
The Red car was a 34/48 'special'. Intriguing. I couls see the '34 part in the cowl / cab / trunk, and then '40 lights, and the '48 fenders. Whoever did it back in the day, did a LOT of work.
The fellow with the '34 regaled me with stories. Seems him and a buddy went to pick up another one in my town in thr 70's. The owner had been drinkin' and playing cards the night before. The standin offer was $200 for the coupe, but the owner said 'double or nuthin'. Guess he was still a little hung over from the night before. That fellow said he and his buddy just gave the man $200 and loaded it up, and got the hell outta there! lol!
I knew those old Crosleys were small, but damn, those old Crosleys were REALLY small! Can't imagine getting that much motor, tires that big, and two humans, in that space.

A special thanks to the Iron Lords for hosting the greet, along with the cold drinks, cookies, and the offer of sandwiches! Opps, shouldn't have mentioned the treats! Now you'll be bombarded next year! Great group of guys (and their better halves)! Looking forward to seeing the new digs!

Thanks to all and I really enjoyed meeting lawbreaker, lofomoco, and krusty40 as well! And can't forget you, Kirk!

    Until next year.....
