  2. Good Captain the quote above should give you an indication. There were two guys ***igned the task to place little yellow dots on the cars that SHOULD be in the centre. Problem is most people refuse to be told where they can and can't park no matter how right or wrong their car is as far as the event goes. Post 67 was cente of race track only... but if you've ever worked an event you'll know how hard this is to do with some people.

I do believe Jase and Cragar both had said **** it by around 10:30am as most cars they told not to let in managed to find a way in anyway.

Thanks for the pics guys. I had the roadster out Friday Night and Saturday and the EK on Sunday. Friday night proved to be somewhat of a race against the weather to get home. Killer electrical storm (nearly an inch of rain in an hour!), but not much fun when the roof is in the boot :D We did beat it by minutes!!! Sure had the roadster wound up to do it though.

Those guys don't play nice. It wouldn't be worth it - for either you or your car. Sad reality.

Its also called "The Picnic", but everybody was there eating hot dogs!:mad::mad::mad:.

I've been going for about 10 years, and I've never seen a travel rug and sandwiches, but then again.....there's more and more tattooed cupcakes every year ????:p

Plenty of cars that shouldnt have been there based on suitability or quality (some BOTH:eek:), but if you cant laugh at some cars and gush over others, you'd probably be happier at home in the garage looking at the perfect car.

The 'everbody welcome' vibe is what it is.....and is the shows BEST aspect!

I loved it! (then went home and continued ****** sanding)

Thanks for all the volunteers that made it happen again!

You know that old saying too many cooks spoil the broth, we would kick em out one side and they'd let em back in the other. It got close to blows with 2 idiots and who needs that. Tubs are the new Hotrod.

Exactly my thoughts on the incorrect cl*** lettering.

I suspect the red US bodied coupe is a 'gl*** body - very accurate overall - unlike many 'gl*** bodies, but the quarter panels being molded into the sills and the stainless firewall cover suggest that it may indeed be a 'gl*** body. There are/were three manufacturers I can think of in the US, Canada and one in South Africa who made accurate 'gl*** bodies. Nonetheless an outstanding car and one of the best of this genre.

Super event coverage. Some x-cellent stuff, love the Willy's duo pix, the utes and the customs are A-1. That green MoPar coupe is a sweet one. Thanx folks, enjoy that wonderful sunshine as us U.S. midwestern folks brace for ol man winter. ~Sololobo~

made an appearance on Sunday, saw one of my old cars with a dodgy paint job (althought it looked alot better than when I last saw her.) You guys got pics of all the best cars I saw, lots of OT pieces of **** there but I still thought it was worth checking out.

Looks like you guys pretty much like the same dozen or so that I liked.

I'm finally starting to accept that the Picnic will always be a mix of all sorts of ****. I think a couple of years ago that was harder to accept because I could see what it could be. Now I don't care too much.

We have "Chopped" now. Maybe more of that style of event will take off.

I have to ask though...WTF was going on with that blue T in the centre area on Sunday?

Hey Striper.....is that color on your rod "Jealousy Green" after driving past this thing????

  21. Thanx for doin such a ood job, although I still copped a few whingin' about you guys. ;-D

It was good to be able to tell 'em that the job had been delegated to you guys and that means it's no good whinging to me.

Still, as usual there were some who seem to think the world revolves around them and they have the right to park whatever they like wherever they like.

My favourite was I have a roadster and it needs to be parked in front of the stag under cover so it won't get wet. WTF, it's made of friggin plastic anyhow so it aint gunna rust even if it does get wet!

  22. Nope, but it's coming along slowly, it may make an appearance at The Kustom Nationals in January..

Coz he drove the late model 'Commodore' wagon.

  23. Nah, remember this is Australia where we have ranches bigger than Texas.
A/Gas is for cars with REALLY big engines. ;-)

  24. I p***ed that one on the Freeway, figured it must be flathead powered it was going so slow. :-D

  25. See comment above re people thinking they own the place. Rather than create an unnesesary riot, the decision was made to leve those cars there.

As you say the event is for modified cars and the organiser broad minded enough to allow most to be involved. They were nice ly built cars, but I agree they did not belong there. If you can show us how to make sure ****holes don't park their cars where they think they should be allowed to, without creatin such a disturbance that it stuffs the event for everybody, then we'd really love to hear it.

Yup coz even at that show there were many cars on the ground that I did not expect to see because they did not fit the criteria as laid out in all the promotional material.

Like you say, it definitely aint easy.

  26. In fact the gates were left shut and chained but the good people forced them open, because it must have been too far to walk to the pedestrian gates a few feet to the left of the big gated driveway.

After closing the gate a number of times, we left them open and parked a car in the driveway so pedestrians could get through but not cars. Somehow thay figured out a way around that because the car was moved from the gateway and left in the middle of the road.

Man I drove home in that lightshow, stopped on th mountain road just to take it all in, it was an awsome display of old Ma Natures' anger. Every kind of lightnig imaginable and the show seemed to go on forever.

Carps, you got a quote of mine and good captain's mixed up, I wasn't making complaints.

  28. So what's this, a block of flats?

You put up the money, invest the time and cop the stress of it all, then you can dictate what's suitable/welcome and what's not.

And that's whet the event has been about from day one!

    You're welcome.
