info needed on the removel of stock 40 king pins. i have replace kingpins in latter model trucks but these seem to have a head on the pin like a nail, do they have to be pressed out from the bottom? the late models that i have done the pins drove thru the axle from the top. how do you do the forty?

  3. That would be correct, From the bottom up to come out.

  4. The pin should come out like you see it, from the bottom up.
A big C clamp and a couple of sockets will help. If it's stuck in the axle boss you will probably have to pull the axle, invert it, and press it out. Or apply some judicious heat to the boss. Or you can remove the cap and drive it down with a BFH. Place a big nut or socket on the top of the pin and wail away. Easier to pull the axle, then you can rebuild the spring and shackles at the same time. See Tech-O-Matic for installation procedures. Have fun.

I drove them out of my 50 F-1 by putting front frame on jackstands.then useing a small bottle jack under bottom of kingpin beating the hell out of the axle and jacking bottle jack also grease them first and a little PB blaster.
