Just picked up a rebuildable AMC 360 from a guy at work, he had to get rid of it so it was free. Now what do I do with it? Ideas? Suggestions? I know almost nothing about AMCs, are they even HAMB friendly? Kinda thinking a V8 Gremlin(sp?) would be cool. Justin
Take the spark plugs out and the carb off, support it with some 8-inch pieces of 2x4 and put it under a tarp between your double wide and a jeep up on blocks. Make sure you talk endlessly about how you are going to fix it up and go "mud bogging." Oh, wait. You're serious? You want something like this:
LMAO! Ok ok I know most would consider it s**** but a good friend has an OT jeep with a 401 (same block i think) in the low tens( 1/4 mile not mud pit), so I gotta think it has some potental
360 is pretty close to 372 cubic inches which is the top end of "C" at Bonneville. Now all you need is a car and all the rest and you will be a contender.
Make sure its a 360 first. Double check the numbers cast in the block under the motor mount. it will say 304, 343, 360, 390, 401. If its a 304 or 360 its pretty common. If one of the others, its the performance model. 390, 401 had good heads and forged crank and rods. Let me know what you decide and what it is for sure. My In-laws are headed to Denver this weekend, Maybe we can work somthing out. Jeff
Buddy of mine years ago had a Javelin with the 360. He changed carb to a holley 600 and the car actually ran pretty hard.Might be cool if you can find the right car to drop it in
sell it to someone with a 304V8 jeep....those extra cubes help, and whatever you get for it can be referred to as "profit" dj
