riceman, Absolutely *****en!!! Really brings back Lions in the mid 60s for me, Frank Cannon, Paul Sutherland, Warren-Coburg and Miller, Pete Robinson, and the list goes on and on. The Woody cars ruled! Very nice job and the motor is a period perfect piece also. Rex
After the Double Tree Hotel fireup Paul told me he didn't have the room to steer the car. You have to remember it has been 44 years since Paul Sutherland wedged himself into this replica of Jim Brissette's Bomb and a few pounds heavier. So Paul would drive the Old Timer AA/FD out of Arizona and I would be in the Cacklefest in Berzerko's Bomb replica. We had to do a push start test before doing it for the Cacklefest. Pops Bradford was behind the wheel of my truck and we pulled up the staging lines. With the motor backed downed, we were given the go ahead, 30 Mph, clutch out, oil pressure was up, fuel on, 1-2-3 and Mag on. She fired right off and the test was done. at 6:30 pm we pulled into the lanes for the Cacklefest. I got into my aluminumized jacket, mask on, helmut on with goggles, and got strapped into the Berzerko Bomb. I put the aluminumized gloves over the windscreen and waited. And waited, and waited. I could have climbed out, but I was enjoying the moment and was trippin out. After all the self starting Cacklers rolled forward first, we were the 2nd car out for the Parade. Jon Lundberg ( The Voice of Drag Racing) introduced our Fueler to the Fans and we rolled to the other end for the push start for the Cacklefest. 2 hours suited up in the car and my energy level was still up. Bob Muravez was directing the starts, he leans in and asked if we are ready, I give him a thumbs up and Bob goes "DO IT RICEMAN". Pops Bradford got me rolling, 1-2-3, oil pressure up, fuel on,1-2-3, Mag on and I drive away, firing on all eight, and the flames were starting to build. I made the turn and Idled down the track. We were told that the line up would start at the top end but the track guys pulled me over early by the self starters. WTF ? We ran for almost 3 1/2 minutes and a blipped it afew times and I clicked it off. We did what we came to do and I am one happy AA/FD Cackle Car owner.
What a great photo of your car. And a great car to start with. You have done such a amazing job. You and everyone involved should be proud. I have been to every Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green and it seems like every year they change how the Cackle Fest is run? I would think that it should be a very flowing event by now. I might be wrong, but that is how I feel. Two hours suited up in Bowling Green would have turned into a cooked human. Long live the front motor dragster.
Riceman,,,,,why didn't you tell me who you were. We were pitted side by side all weekend and I didn't even know it was you. I saw you working your *** off getting those heads off and back on again. Been there, done that too. A real ***** when your time is short. We had a real blast ourselves and had some good family time. Your car looked fantastic man, and sounded damn good....... Not like a Lincoln on 95% of course (just kidding), but cool anyway. Hope to see you at Bowling green next year. Good luck to you. Beep & the GizzleHopper gang
Hey Riceman! Great car! great story! Thanks for giving us "dreamers" a blow by blow update! My 40 Willys coupe does not run on nitro, but it runs mechanical Hilborn fuel injection on a 292 small block chev. When it fires, there is always a smile on my face and my heart a pumpin! Bet when you cars fires the smile is there and the heart rate is high! Thanks so very much! Gary aka 1940 Willys Coupe
Beep, you guys know how to make that Lincoln ROAR ! Just just seem time went by too fast when you got the work on your ride. Just too much too do for the first major event for us. I just wanted to make thing right. A CHRR I'll never forget and I have been to every one. Hope you come next year, I'll buy you guys a beer or two.
King Ch***is, working out the BUGs finally and we worked for what happen at the CHRR. We came home in one piece with a happy motor. You have been there and done that. I still have to get comfy in the car and drivers ed. LOL
Yup, when it is THUMPIN, so am I ! There is alittle Dr. Frankenstein in all of us....." IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE,IT'S ALIVE ! " More Nitro Egor !
Over 10,000 hits on this long thread, Thanks everyone for looking in and following along. Driver's Education is next up and becoming one with my Fueler. Learning to adjust the fuel system from Cackling to Full Blast Animal will be fun too. Here is a picture from the Double Tree Hotel fireup about 3 minutes into the Cackling. Need more Volume of Fuel ?
Thanks Roger, nuthin like nitro in your lap!! God...(she) intended for the engine to be in the front! She being the ***** goddess nitro. You have made us proud. Lippy
Sitting in the mouth of the dragon.......Look at those flames, everything is perfect. Idle speed, perfect...barrell perfect...timing perfect...camera man...perfect, percentage a little low..but..... Good job Roger, it don't get much better. Lippy (with a woody) in Ks.That smile says it all!
This is "Ricky's Garage" on you tube by Bill Pitts, owner of the Magicar on Friday. Thanks Ed from the "G-Hopper Gang" for being there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DGcxDVEj-Q
I have alot of catching up to Patty Foster. I learned alot from Pat and listened to every word he had to say in our many conversation. " You finish every part like it should be " he said. Even though he is not with us, I know he was looking over my shoulder. I miss him and his wisdom. Thanks for your comments.
No, everything's in one piece so far. We fire it again on the 14th and I really don't have too many worries up to that point. (I'll have Jensen and Hutchison there for it.) After that the car will be ready for push starts etc. THAT'S where things are going to get wooley! I'm officially adopting the astronaut mantra from here on out..."Please God, don't let us **** UP." Like our hero Pat Foster used to say, "SIT LOW."
