Shelby Raceway/Kettlersville Drag Strip Reunion

Hi all,
As you may remember me, I'm actually Bill's daughter Kara. I was doing some research on the old Kettlersville Raceway and came upon some race talk on this forum. Made me think I ought to post about the reunion coming up Sunday.
Its this Sunday, November 8th, from 11 - 5. We are holding it at the Palazzo in Botkins (its right on 25A). We've gathered lots of old pictures, and hope to have lots of people coming who have raced or watched at the Shelby or Kettlersville Drag Strips. WOW!! Shelby Raceway was the first drag strip I ever went down. Remember running my '64 Malibu against a SB injected Jeep of all things. The best part was sitting right behind the starting line eating rubber. Great pics and memories.
HOTRAWD and I talked about this very strip a while back.

The reunion Sunday was a big hit. Thanks to all who came or shared stories! We had over 300 racers/spectators sharing memories. We had a DVD presentation with around 700 pictures of Kettlersville & Shelby. If you want a copy, e-mail me. liningertrailers@hotmail.com.

Yeah it was alot of fun. Saw some old friends and heroes. Sure were a lot of fellows with smiles from ear to ear! I was afraid that my daughter might get a little bored since she was born way after Pence's was closed but she loved hearing the old stories and meeting people she has heard about forever.

 

I just came across this old thread about Shelby Raceway. I would love to see more of the pics so how do I get the DCD? I'd love to see if I'm in there. I raced there quite a bit around 1969-1971. Gold 69 427/435 vette convertoble with wild custon paint job by the Egyptian.

I remember having to race that Challenger of Stepps once.

I graduated high school in Botkins and never knew there was such a place...

 

That was the very first strip I ever went to. I know this is an old thread, but thanks for posting the pictures.
