I recently puchased a restored 39 Plymouth Center Grille Molding. It looked little wide to me at the top in the emblem area. So measured the molding on my car at the half way point across the emblem and it was 1 1/2". I then measured restored one and it was 1 5/8" half way between the two mounting holes across the molding. It looks square like it is not spread out. My question is could the molding have streached full 1/8" in with during restoration? Or is there a difference making it a truck molding or for a different year? The top width at the hood ornament seems good and the bottom width to the lower trim seems good as well. Thanks in advance for the inp put.
Is this for a car or a truck?,I used to have a 39 car years ago and if I can remember correctly the 40 car and the truck versions look similar but have some differences. Does the moulding have holes for a emblem to mount to it and if it does not it might be for a truck.
I believe moulding to be from a car as it has the emblem mounting holes. I find it to be a little strange that it the restored moulding is 1/8" wider.
