Roll call of military veterans past and present

With Veterans Day just around the corner I thought it'd be cool to see a show of hands (so to say) of those here on this board that have either served or have been influenced in hot rodding by someone (relative, neighbor, shop owner) that served in the military... that includes those men/women from outside the states that stood beside us in war and peacetime.

Personally, as a pre-teen and teen, I got a alot of influence from WWII vets in my neighborhood that were of the old school rodding days and ways (my best freind's dad was a tank commander and knew how to make an engine sing). Not to forget the guys that tromped thru the Vietnam hell, they really influenced my love of muscle cars.

My best influnce was a korean war vet..., my dad, USAF, Okinawa, '50-'54 B-29 Tail Gunner. Thanks for your service dad.

Thank you to all the military vets that have come and gone before us, and to all that are still around; for your courage and your influences on us (some bad, some good, it all evens out)...

Im currently active duty Army.
Im in a Special operations unit, and im currently deployed on my third tour.
I hit 5 years last month. I get out in 8 months, and have boxes upon boxes of parts for my projects, i cannot wait to devote time to them

 

One influence for me was stories my dad told me of his 34 Ford hot rod back before he went to WWII.I enlisted and hung out with buddies from all over the US that were gear heads.We would meet up at the hobby shop to work on our cars when I got back from overseas.

Turned wrenches on Army helicopters while active and fixed wing counter-measures birds in the Reserve.

And my cousin Ora (my grandfather's first cousin), who was one of the very LAST doughboys killed in WWI, in the very last gun battle of the war, six hours AFTER the Armistice was signed...91 years ago, 11/11/1918

My biggest influence with cars was from my grandfather WWI vet had his on shop till he retired.

Hey sckracing, I was with the 93rd Bombardment Wing, '75-'79, 93rd MMS. When were you with the 93rd?

USAF, AFSC 10162 Munitions Maintenance Spec., 1975-1979, 93rd Bombardment Wing, 93rd MMS, Castle AFB. Loaded 50 cal. and 20 MM ammunition for B52 training missions. Was also on local ordinance disposal team. I got paid to blow stuff up! How cool is that?!
