I started going out there from south Minneapolis in 1968. I have great memories of entire days spent roaming the yard in the late 60's and early '70's.

I bought a '55 Chev 2 dr sedan out of the yard in the summer of '69. That same summer another friend bought a very nice '34 Ford 2 dr sedan, complete minus engine for $300.00. It had just come in and was sitting in front of the office in the parking lot. I can't remember if we flat towed it back to south Mpls or put it on a trailer. I remember for certain flat towing the '55 Chev down Hwy 55.
Does anyone remember the nice '53 Cad El Dorado that showed up in the spring of '72, as I recall. I almost bought it, but Floyd had sold the wire wheels off it the day or so before when it got there and that soured the deal for me. (go figure)

    Those were the days.

I just had my first visit there during Back to the fifties this year. My brother lives in Elk River and we took in the BTTF's show on friday, then spent all day Saturday out at French Lake. We took in the swapmeet at BTTF's on Sunday. By far the best day of the weekend was Saturday...really enjoyed it out there...
