Hi, Everyone! I'm doing a project in one of my design engineering cl***es. It's a fixture to enable a Bridgeport type milling machine to functions as a seat and guide machine. My project is to design tooling that would allow domestic cylinder heads to be clamped and indicated quickly and accurately (including canted valve heads: i.e. BBC, Cleveland and 385 Fords). I need to see if there is a market for this contraption, that is why I'm posting to see if any of ya'll have any interest. I would appreciate it if a bunch of you would post and say ya or nay on this idea. Thanks! MMP --> Wally
I am ALWAYS looking at/for tools that allow me to economically do things for myself. For me it would be a cost vs. benefit thing, (how long to get a "return" on this investment), and btw, I don't have a Bridgeport mill,,,,,, YET....
Same here. Wondering if it is possible to make it universal enough that it will fit a wide variety of heads though.
Take a look at Kwik-Ways' Head Shop. Very simple Carriage table that could be Economically reproduced to home hobby scale. I used to have an IDL head machine and made a Kwik-Way style table for it using a piece of 10" by 24" heavy wall channel steel for a base. Misc uprights and table top made with various slotted steel bars. Used 5/8 heim joints for pivots and adjusters. "T" slot anchors to hold to table.
