Very nice roadster! I was going to try to get some better pictures of this one, and while it sat on my desk I had a vision and did a little rolling stock swap. Before... And now (the left side at least). Could probably use an engine upgrade now as well to make full use of those slicks.
Worked on my Weesner challenge build a bit more this week. Scarce interior, not going to be seen much.. Recessed firewall Engine in and rear wheels painted and mounted. It's getting close now!!!!

Oh yea the theme is 55's this year after the 55 Chevy t-shirt Rod did last year.
The "Pizza and Plastic" night is a night where a bunch of us get together and show off what we've been doing lately and have pizza too. Scott does a great job off putting it on every year. He has a couple contests like "name the old model parts" etc. It's a fun night!!!!!!! I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it this year. I have to work my part time job until 2m and it's gotta be ok with the wife. If I don't make it down, I'll see ya sometime Scott. Done anymore work on that Model T project of yours??? If not, I'll finish it for ya!!!!! LOL

Nice builds, guys! Love the red Deuces, and Doc Kerry's coupe is gonna be really cool. Dave, great Willys and the flatties look terrific; you've got a way with the weathering! To switch thing over to the custom side of things, here's my first completion of 2009... Johan '59 Sport Fury stripped and rebuilt as a custom-painted, slightly "raked" daily driver circa 1960. Inspired by photos posted here on the HAMB by Rik Hoving, a Sport Fury ragtop painted in northern California in about 1960 by Jim Roten. New chrome on bumpers and taillights by Little Motor Kar Co. Modelhaus repro Johan '58 Dodge Lancer caps. Lake pipes from Revell '59 Impala hardtop "customizing kit." Added details include scratch windshield wipers, antenna. Clear portions of steering wheel added from AMT '62 Catalina. Weatherstripping added to side window opening with Evergreen strip. Vent windows replaced using thin PETE clear plastic from egg carton. Added a 1960 Pennsylvania license plate with the same registration code as the car that inspired the build. Just for the hell of it, a scallop job group shot!...
Those look like Monogram L'il Coffin wheels/tires--good old '60s Monogram whitewall pie-crusts. I'm using a set of the same wheels/tires (blackwalled) on a 1/25th recreation of my '55. The one nagging problem with the L'il Coffin wheels is the mold-release marks on the front wheel outer rims. A real h***le to remove since they have to be replated afterwards. Still a great setup though.
Yes indeed. I've seen them sanded off then foiled which didn't look horrible....and they could be stripped, sanded, and chrome-painted....but neither would match the existing rear wheels. So I figure most people recognize them for what they are, and it's not a big deal.

OOh, foil, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks! I saw that you put them on your coupe as-is and they look great. Maybe I'll pirate some fronts out of one of my L'il Coffin stash/parts kits and just run'em out of the box. Love that red coupe, BTW. Looks great both ways.
here's a couple early style short trackers. my friend Slim Louis got me hooked into building these sometimes, he's awesome at these cars. first one is a '41 Willy's, the second a '49 Ford <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o> </o> the front spindle mounts on my Willy's g***er are resin from Compe***ion Resins. nice resin, especially for the price. Same here. On a good day I might glue an engine block together. Need to break out some plastic this winter.
Hope this is not interpreted as a Hi-Jack of the thread but does anyone out there build models to order? I see such great builds on the site and I would like to get one built of my 51 Ford Tudor. Looking for something in the 1/18 scale. Does any model manufacturer have a standard or stock model on which to build upon? Thanks, js
Oh hell yes! Finish that one! I have one of those in my stash, an original late-70s issue. Maybe I need to build it now! As for not being as good as some of these guys, try just building something straight out of the box as a warm-up or as a way to improve skills. Sometimes I take on too much with a kit and then lose the energy to complete the job. Try building something paintless too--just clean and crisp and no paint (Revell's "Miss Deal" Studebaker drag car is a good one for that). That's a fun warm-up for doing something more involved (paint, foil, etc.). Just my .02 cents.
you can probably find what you need in 1/25 scale, not sure about 1/18. you may check with Drew, the guy who made the first post today and see if he's open to commission builds. Dave
I don't know of a '51 in any scale. And I can't do any commission work, I just don't have the time. Froghawk, I saw your '59 Plymouth on another board. Amazing work! That thing is perfection!
