Thanks man! I came up with another idea when I was thinking about it. You'd have to be careful, but you could cut the outer part of the rim off, then use one from another chrome wheel to replace it. I'd give it a shot now if I didn't have this cough and fever. RAF, I love those race team setups. Very cool combinations.
A simple model but perfect parts choices and ***embly. You and Tim Boyd always make it look right with consistent era builds.
Modelhaus makes a '51 conversion for the AMT '49-'50 coupe and convertible kits. they did at one point and maybe still do also offer 2-door sedan bodies and a Crestliner. commission builds are hard to find people open to taking on and doing. you could try posting a request on the Model Cars magazine forums and see what kind of responses you get there. Dave
DDlova, the spindle mounts on the Willys made me drool just like the real thing. Amazing! Nice to see the "weathered" look, I wanna get in it and rip gears!
Are there any sailing or steam ship modelers here ?If you scratch build these would you please PM me I'd like to start building these type models. Thanks for any help Leon
You guys take this stuff to another level. I used to build military models because I thought car models weren't that realistic. The foil chrome makes a big difference. I recently bought a 1964 Comet model and noticed people are selling drag racing wheels and hoods for the kit on EBay. Maybe one day.
I'm sure by now you guys have seen the preview of the model kit of Von Franco's " EYE GONE WILD" well I got my grimy paws on the prototype of it from Franco and he asked me to build it for him.. I'll post pics as they come.. Here's the Box art and all the parts laid out .. Stay tuned....
Awesome work folks (once again). No matter what level your building at,just keep building! Never fail's,I'm inspired looking at anybody's use of color,etc...... RoccoATX,that kit's gonna be killer.Ya gotta let us know when/where to find it. Thx,Myron.
Thanks! Here ya go. The '40... Later, with wipers! (Gotta love drilling holes in a finished model!) And the '34. Just some fancy paint and Ala Kart wheels/tires on a Snap Kit...
Would love a L'il Coffin kit. Last time I saw a L'il Coffin it was almost $100 bucks, the release a while ago was ok they were only asking $80 for them, still too rich for a parts kit! Doc.
20 years ago when I was first based out in Rapid City in the USAF I drove around to all the local towns within 100 miles or so and bagged a bunch of old (1970s and '80s) model car kits. I canv***ed old drug stores, variety stores, etc., and I wound up with about 10 L'il Coffins a**** my haul. That was about the last time you could do that and not have gotten beaten to the place by another kit collector. Of course the model companies realized that collector-mania was getting underway 20 years ago so they re-released such kits as the L'il Coffin several more times since then. Think of how many times any AMT cl***ic like the '57 Chevy hardtop had been released in the 1962-80 period and then since 1980. Dozens of times. And to think I used to go far and wide hoping to find one when they were (momentarily) out of production.
Doc, I have a reissue one from 1985 ,the body, and some interior is there the skeleton and instructions are there. If you want it just pay for shipping man and it's yours...... Endsville Franco..............
I picked up the latest reissue for 20 bucks a year ago. They aren't getting cheap that's for sure.... Hey John, man I love that 40 Ford!!!!! That thing is B-E-A-Utiful!!!!!!!!!!!
Hay RAF, how bout some more close up shots of that altered yellow coupe. That'n makes me nervous!!!!!!!!!
Did you click on the pictures to see the larger version? I don't know if i can get any closer without blurring them but I will give it a try.
Enter anyway, we all like to see everybody elses build and get different ideas. I'd like to see what ya got!!!!
Ya like the Dr. said. You should see the panel job on a 55 I just messed up. I am afraid to peal the tape off. Oh well maybe practice will make a good one some day. lol
