finals are done! I built some thicker flanges and finished the intake fingers for one side. next week I'm going to pick up some throttle bodies and a throttle position sensor from the pull your part.[IMG]

I have made some progress! I gave up on the ITB's(the tuning part intimidated me). so i'm building a dual plenum manifold. and I also got my un-assembled MS computer. here are some pics for those interested:[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Are you going to box in where you put the plates at the top of the tubes? Have you decided what you're going to do for throttle bodies?

Pretty neat. Altuough SBC injection is pretty easy to come by.I know, you wanted to do it your self. I did a banger with GSXR throttle bodies and alswo with Ford 4.6 throttle bodies. Did one with a F150 two barrel TB also but didn't take any pictures. Lost the wires while I was at it.

The big CBR and GSXR throttle bodies are real common and cheap at most salvage yards. I personally think they would look out of place. The idea of the 4 F150 tb's looks like overgrown scott/sp carb tops and a little more at home.

yes. I'm thinking the throttle bodies are going to either exit the plenum up front or poking out the sides. i was thinking of using 2 late model 3.8L GM TB's or ford 4.6's. thanks guys!

  9. I,m interested in this thread as I know little about efi but would like to use it if I can make it look traditional by disguising it.

  10. Very interesting , I had not thought of using that type of injection . I plan to fuel inject a straight 8 and the bore spacing looks right but what kind of control box would one use. thanks Rob

yeah, turbo will stick around. I found some twins that I want to rebuild a little later on, and build a setup kind of like the old malicoat bros. willys, but with my dual plenum manifold.

    hello Shawn!
Things have slowed down for school and my income stalled for awhile, but I'll be getting paid within the next week, and I am almost done with my midterms!I'm shooting for thanksgiving, but if not, over Christmas break.

I think I might buy one of those speedway spun aluminum 11 gal tanks to mount in the back where the spare wheel well was. I bought another car a while ago too. It's a 1969 SIMCA 1118. rear engine, water-cooled, four-speed, 1.1L french sedan. Electronic Injection will definitely go on this guy.

This weekend i built my computer pigtail. this is the wiring harness that goes from the back of the computer to the fuse panel(i bought the unassembled panel from DIYautotune for around $40.00, actually all my computer stuff is from there). The whole computer assembly and wiring is not that bad, actually the wiring is quite simple, and the computer assembly is just solder by numbers. here is a diagram of the sensor wiring. the 37-pin connector in this pic, represents the back of the computer, but if you build a fuse panel, you can just run the wires from it directly to the component.

If anyone has questions, I'd love to hear them!

I love looking at homemade stuff like this. This is what hotrodding was (and is) all about.
From my limited understanding of fuel injection the angle of your injectors should be ideal, aiming right down the intake port at the back of the valve, instead of like most factory systems where the spray has to bounce off the bottom if the intake runner.
Cool build, and keep the pics comming.

Sorry for the boring posts but I really want to give an as comprehensive as possible documentation. Next time i will have more exciting stuff, I promise! here is the computer in the aluminium case(the stimulator is attached. This is a device that simulates the engine so you can make sure your computer is making the right outputs), the start of the fuse block and the start of the pigtail. the pigtail is just an extension so you dont have to mount the computer directly on the fuse block. the fuse block routes each pin to its corisponding fuse and has each terminal labeled. It was hard to mess up......but i still did! the last pic is a piece of aluminium i turned down to weld onto the radiator for dual output.

Thank you! the bike is what I ride to school. I lock it to the bike racks. It's imperative for me to get this done as quickly, cheaply, and simply as possible so i'll hold off on the turbo for a bit. I am modifying my fenderwell headers to work right now. i'll post some pics once i get some batteries for my camera.

what are you going to use for cam and crank position sensors? i know the megasquirt crowd really like the ford 36-1 vr stuff.

I can explain to you how to time the ITB's it's actual very easy. People are normally scared but once I explain how you will be able to set everything up within about 2-5%
