    FNG - The intro post...

So, about a month ago I picked up the #1 car on my hot rod list - a '63 Falcon hardtop with a 4-speed. It's pretty straight, and the 170 will someday be replaced by a small block. I also have a '72 Mustang project, but me and that car have issues, so it's going and the funds from it will help pay for Falcon goodies.

That was going to be the end of my intro, but over the last week I discovered and obtained a '58 Ford 2-door Ranch Wagon. It will be "her" car, but I'll be damned if I don't get a little input. Right now it's got the stock 6-banger with the Clifford (6=8) set up with a 4-barrel intake and headers. It's currently not running because the rusty gas tank was removed, but it's nearly winter here, and there's nothing better to do than stay warm working in the garage. I'd love to give it some period correct performance, and I found a 430 MEL relatively close by. I know parts are somewhat scare for those, but who cares, not everyone wants a 347 right out of the box!

I'm an engineer, hoping that the current economy doesn't hinder my ability to buy parts.

Anyhow, that's me, stuck in the middle of Washington (the state).

    Brad

Welcome, Nice score on the Ranch Wagon!

  3. nice rides! I think you should go with a mildly hopped up Y-block for the wagon.. a 430 may be too much for "her" to handle :)

hey 63HT...welcome. i like both of your rides. what are the odds U would have two 6 cylinder mills, maby it's CARMA? i have a good suggestion on cleaning Ur gas tank cheaply. pour a small bottle of JOY limon soap in, add water and roll tank around. be sure to rinse thouraly. call me POP...or the old FART!

    Hey welcome from Tacoma

  6. Welcome from another PNW guy. Also a big Ford supporter. If your honey wants a Wagon to drive with a FE in it I have a 59 Edsel 4d wagon that's my daily driver and I've been looking for a 57-58 Ford 2 door wagon builder to go with my Hardtop and Covertable. Anyway, Welcome and think about it.

Thanks all for the warm-'n-fuzzy...hope to catch you at the Vintiques in Yakima next year...I'll have at least the Falcon there.

Yeah, a Y-block was definitely choice #2, with an FE being #3. Odds of putting something more "modern" in it is pretty low. Call me crazy.

Thanks for the offer, but the wife's got her heart set on this one...and she can't be reasoned with. :D

Yakama is a grate event. Hopefully I'll be driving the 57 Ht. Here is what it looks like today. A long way to go.
