Here's a pick of mine. The body is mostly stock, no bumper guards, nosed and decked. I like the body and fender trim myself. I'm about to put a dropped axle on it, and I'm going to replace the beat front wheels with chrome steelies, but leave the chrome reverse on the back, make them look a little beefier. The interior is all white, and it's got a stock rebuilt flathead that I'm going to hop up.

Here's my '47. It's not finished. Still needs motor and ****** reinstalled and interior.

What are the mods? Chop is 5 in back and 4 in front, all fenders molded, '47 Olds grille, frenched headlights, frenched Buick taillights, running boards eliminated by extending body and doors down, drip rails simplified (molded not shaved), all trim except belt line shaved, nosed, decked, door corners rounded, deck lid corners rounded, bearclaw latches installed, doors regapped by shaving edges down, slanted B pillars....

What is gingerbread? I missed the boat on that one. LOL

    [/ QUOTE ]

Gingerbread is slang for all the trim on the car. Mercuries had more than their share IMO. Even the Fords had a little too much for my taste. I like it when folks shave the trim off the fenders, and leave the main piece.

Of course I also like them chopped, with Olds grilles or Dagmars [IMG]

What the hell happened to the roof? Did you stop too soon, and the back half unchopped itself somehow? [IMG]

I don't like publicly capping on peoples rides but the whole idea with chopping the '42-'48 Ford is to get rid of the ugly hump in the top. That chop looks well done.....just backwards.

To each his own. If everyone did the same thing, it sure would ****.

I know this thread is focused on coupes, so I already posted my yellow ford. Here was my dad's 47 convert in the 60's. It was a barris car that made it's way to north jersey, and way out of style when he had it, that's why there were no skirts. It was midnite blue metalic. It had a lift off carson top, caddy grille and headlites, appleton spots, all seams were lead filled, shortened side trim(the rear pieces were missing in the pic), all the good ****. When he got it, it had an incomplete caddy engine, so he replaced it with a punched out sbc, 301 with a fuelie cam and dual quads. Still had the columbia rear. The car looks way cool! Anyone know what ever happpened to it???

Hey, Higg, don't you love it when people think you should think (and cut) just like them? Personally, I like the raked roof look on your car. Of courese, a lot of people have told me I do things all wrong, so take what I say with a few grains......... [IMG]

It looks like Phat Rat never piped in on this one. He's got a nice chopped '41 with a BBC. Now I know where this one is from - Muskegon, Michigan!
