Projects Are these air cleaners cheezy lookin????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flamedabone, Nov 8, 2009.

  1. What if you made the lower part out of two more baby moon hubcaps with a big hole cut in them to match the top of the carb? So then it would look like some big chrome cheeseburgers with the air filters playing the part of the hamburger patty. Or it might look like a couple of chrome flying saucers with ventilated edges. You could trim off the lips and find larger air cleaners that are almost as big as the hub cap and it might look pretty cool.

I like them. Who cares if they are really hubcaps-that look is pretty "traditional" if it's been done since the 40's. Maybe lose or paint the rim like it has been suggested. Maybe try a more novel nut to hold then on and add some difference.

Lots of differing opinions here. Only yours counts. Running them would please half of us, piss of the other half-both worthwhile pursuits.

  9. It may have been said, but if you can find an element that the lip just fits the inside diameter, that would look neat.

    BTW, I like the concept!

I say stick a huge old vacuum cleaner belt around the 'lip' that is used for hub cap mounting... Then it hides what they might be for kinda... Also, change the 'nut to something different IMHO...

Will it flow better with two more hubcaps?
