here goes.. im new to h.a.m.b. a "fng" i've got parts to sell. i can understand someone seeing my ad and wanting to buy the parts, but once they see im a "fng" with no credentials, they might be leery of sending their hard-earned money to me and hoping for the best...so, my "idea" is to offer the parts to alliance members only and if they want a part, and we agree on a price, i will just ship it to them at my cost and WAIT for THEM to send me the money. that way, they cant lose, if they dont like the deal..just ship it back...i guess the ship cost would be their only loss. i think i would be safe, since alliance members have spent money just to belong to h.a.m.b. and wouldn't screw me by not paying since it would only hurt them (i.e feedback) if they did everyone would know..what do you guys think?? good idea? bad idea?? any ideas?? or should i just post the stuff and ask for the money up front like everyone else?? thanks!

Ive sold parts without being an alliance member ,It doesn't matter When I ship I use delivery confirmation ,An extra cost but puts the buyer at ease .I try not to ship without it.Dont ship nothing till you get paid. Period. Checks wait until they clear as for the same as money orders ,Alot of guys here and possibly the lady hambers have paypal. That's the best in my opinion Faster

Brother, dont ever give up YOUR stuff till you have the money. Plain and simple. Just make sure you get them there parts, if it takes you a little while for some reason or nother to get the parts out, update the buyer, let him know what's going on so he knows you're not taking him. Just toss your stuff up there and lettem bite!!

And oh yeah, welcome to the HAMB!

Yeah and besides it just good so you know when it got there incase a buyer might be trying to take YOU. And it's just a small extra cost. Always cover your *** man.

I do see his point because I see a lot of guys signing up just to sell parts and never hear from again. So I do look at post count and I'd be lying if it didn't make me think twice about buying from someone with 1-2 posts. Having said that, I wouldn't sell using your plan, just post it and do the deal straight up.

  11. The "FNG" status isn't going to bother a real buyer, so long as you post an intro. If your only post on the H.A.M.B. is your listing in the cl***ifieds, then folks might smell it for what it is.

Add to that a good location for shipping, like a zip code!:)

Good Luck and welcome to the HAMB

thanks for the input..i'll just post the pictures of the parts and wait for the money..the logic was that i have been taken before and i didn't want anyone to think i was just on this site to rip people off..therefore if i wait for the money after i send the goods no one would question the intentions of a fng. i just want to sell my stuff. i figured when people see the fng status they wouldnt bother, plus the parts artent expensive or hard to ship..it was an ideajuist wanted to throw it out there..i'll just post em..thanks guys!:)

I sold and bought a few things as an FNG. It can be hard, even I look at post counts, profile info, and friends of potential sellers or buyers. Like so many have said already though, if someone demands your parts, they will buy regardless of your HAMB "status". Best thing to do is just keep in communication. If you want an easy way to gain a bit of credibility quickly...its simple...become an Alliance member. It goes a long way. Plus it benefits this place, and your endless quest for parts on whatever your workin on. Can't lose, its a win-win.

a scam?? yep..ya caught me.. i was gonna ship my valuable parts for free and if the person dont pay up im not only out the ship cost, im out the value of the part..and they get to post how stupid fng's are.....man i run such smooth scams!!!

  18. see, you can run, but you can't hid.
Don't worry about it, I think he was kidding you. Their are a few honest folks out there, its the crooks that get all the headlines, and wreck it for people who just want new people to know they may not be known to them, but their intentions are good.
Post what you have, good pictures, return emails a fast as you can, and yes use paypal. all suggested , all excellent advice from your new friends on HAMB
    good luck, welcome dkiser72

Never ship anything to anybody without payment first-that defies logic! Just because your status is FNG, it doesn't mean you just arrived on our planet.

  21. agreed, whats the h***le with this ? get your money and ship the items or fear of beatdown. the HAMB reaches everywhere and everybody.

  22. Some members just go for 1000 welcome posts on the intro page. Probably just friendly guys.

don't sweat it, some people see a scam behind every deal. always share information as buyer/selller, home phone-cell phone-fax-email-address, and for larger buys I always call the guy at home and visit for a minute. if someone don't want to give out that info screw them, they are probably too paranoid or are scammers. jmho...

A good line of communication with your buyer/seller is crucial.
DO what you say and say what you do.
Thread count is immaterial.Good character is.

Outside of what has been said. Insure the item for what it is actually worth. Even if it goes to Canada and the guy has to pay a bit extra in duty fees. And package or crate the item so that it can't be easily damaged.
Some of us truck guys just saw photos of a damaged grill on another forum that appeared to have been folded to make it fit in the brown truck although it probably got caught on a jammed belt in front of a big heavy package.

I dont buy off anyone with less then about 100 posts and preferably an Alliance member but then I have been stung for approx $14K from a low post member or two.

But keep in mind that is just a personal decision of mine and I whist I applaud your offer to ship prior to getting the cash, listen to the guys above and NEVER ship until you get your money.

Good luck with selling your stuff and welcome to the HAMB.
