now you're getting off the subject...trad rods..that's the subject.

  9. Jesus..., some of you "ol' skool" guys need to back off on the phillips milk of magnesia intake (or viagra). If the guy can afford to rebuild and slap a blower on a motor I'm betting he's not building a $50.00 field find... maybe if more "old" ol' skool guys were more receptive to helping those trying to build their first rod (Rat, Jalopy, Dragger, Rust bucket, Trad rod, whatever..) "rat" would would just go back to being your buddy's nickname.
And yeah, I'm "Old" (compared to the age of my daughters and their freinds), AND "Traditonal", AND "Ol Skool", AND also someone willing to freely help out another rodder in need...

Thatguy468 go to another thread already started today entitled "Vintage Blowers and Drives" by MARTINSPEED (apparently "those guys" don't have wrench up their tucai' and have the info you seek).

    Good Luck. Build it right.

That won't change the quality, somethings aren't better with age.....:D

  15. P.S.
Don't take the "FNG" designation to mean anything more than the fact that I don't spend but a few hours a week looking at the internet wormhole, and if I need to get noticed... I let my 35 + yrs of skill, knowledge, and production speak for itself on the street, the dragstrip, and via all the friends (and strangers) I lend my expertise to freely.
    Good-nite and drive safe.

Wikipedia defines A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates (or exaggerates) the early hot rods of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. It is not to be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod from the same era.
Most rat rods appear "unfinished" (whether they actually are or are not), with just the bare essentials to be driven.
The rat rod is the visualization of the idea of function over form. Rat rods are meant to be driven, not shown off. Sometimes the customization will include using spare parts, or parts from another car altogether.

so i guess in a sense i am building half and half. of what ever you wana call it? i want to buil an un finished hotrod. more like a hot rod with a big motor that never got paint and no shiny parts? lol So normally i would have a camaro or dodge charger and be running a 400 -500 hp simple summit or jegs parts built motor, simple enough. but im not rich and nor am i building a junker. the interior will be completely finished custum painted much like a hotrod. yet the outsife will be painted to be as though it has sat outside for 50 years but with a theme. guess maybe cars isnt a place to let ones creativity go i guess. naw i will just keep trying, thanks for those who had sum good dirrections for me.

  26. Almost 4 million posts on the hamb, folks don't bother to read, your going to need to get used to that .
Don't get into the drama, build what you want, call it what you want, but not much help for Rats around here.

Now are we going to build a blower motor or have an exercise in futility

Wow. the number of posts that become pissing matches over what is and isn't. No wonder so many people love to hate the HAMBers. The man asked a question about blower pulleys, not wheather or not you approved of his choice in builds or terminology. If you cannot answer his question, don't feel obliged to leave your comments or insults, just pass on to the next thread.

As far as a blower pulley, have you tried checking with some of the blower manufacturers or installers like Blower Drive Service or Banks or someone of the like?

Call it a hotrod and let it go at that.
Check with Big Al's Toybox up in Conn. He sold me everything I needed for my blower set up including the snout and pulley.
