What's an appropriate air cleaner for my Edsel?

Kind of undecided, this is just one I have laying around. I don't want a generic 14" Autozone unit. I want something classic looking to match my original valvecovers I had plated. I really like the 50's Tbird air cleaners, but don't really want to spend $200 for one. Would the hi-po chrome Mustang air cleaner look appropriate? There just doesn't seem to be choices for 4 bbls. Eventually I'll reinstall my 3x2 setup... just couldn't get it tuned well enough, so I'll shelve it for now.

And I know it's got an aluminum radiator... I'll black it out someday. It's just... a)$400 for a recore that will be inefficient in AZ, or b) a $160 aftermarket aluminum radiator that should be more than adequate.

Gonna go back to this someday... not for a few years though.

I am imagining that it didnt run right because you only had fuel to the center carb??? did you block off the other carbs at the base plate??? That is way too cool of a manifold to not use because of a tuning issue. In the amount of time you spend and money as well trying to figure out an air cleaner you could have had it running with the 3x2. I had a 58 edsel pacer with a 59 361 out of a police model that had a aftermarket cam and such. I ran an ugly 14" pep boys unit. Anyway. wish I had that set up then.

    Run the 3x2 and rule.

What does the rest of the car look like???

I didn't finish setting up the 3x2 setup because the baseplates were so worn on the rest of the carbs I had, so I just blocked off the outer two with a plate. I don't know anyone around here to set mill/bore the holes so I just set the center carb to move the car around... but that didn't do ANY good as once I got it running, I shifted it to move it and my brand new Fordomatic rebuild didn't do anything. That was a year ago. I parked it till last June. That's when I decided I had WAY too much changed on this car and I eliminated one problem area... the carbs. I can set up a Holley 750 in my sleep. I put it on, and it runs awesome. So it'll stay that way until everything else on the car is mechanically perfect... THEN I can tinker with the carbs. I just want to drive it now. I've been working to get this on the road for 3 years. I finally drove it up the street the other day so I'm getting there. This car has been problem after problems so the goal is to keep things simple, and get it on the road!

Here's the rest of the car. I changed the wheels since I added discs up front, and installed a Mark V rearend, so changed the bolt pattern and the discs wouldn't clear the 14" wheels. Still undecided on wheels, but I just want to get it on the road first.

I was at SEMA, and Coker had some 285/70R15 whitewalls. I see that with some widened factory steelies painted green, with the factory base caps I have sitting around. That will come later, got to get it on the road first.

I was thinking of that, what would look best with the chrome valvecovers though... paint it white to match the car? Would chrome be too much on those?
