Gosh, just what I need...more of these things. I called on an add on craigslist for some early Ford axles and brakes. Went and met the guy and he had this 1942 Ford 1/2 ton
pickup in his yard as yard art in a small pond. He wanted it, as well as a couple 40 pickup cabs and some front and rear ends gone, so he made me a package deal for eveything. He had this really nice 42-47 pickup box being used as a planted too, thats my brother shoveling all the dirt out of it. He made me a deal I could not p*** up. I'm just gonna strip some stuff off and get rid of the truck and cabs, I don't have the room. Anyone need a 1942 Ford pickup or pickup cabs/parts :D

Nice, and a 42 to boot. The doors look good, its got the good front fenders on it. Watch out on the frame where the wood has sat on it from the flatbed, can cause some deep rust there. If you were closer I would like them fenders, and doors but, sadly your not. Great score on the bed to.

That's an open drive banjo rear under that truck. Probably a good ratio for an OD transmission like a T5.

Thats the main thing I was after...we got two open driveline rears and a complete 40 Ford front end in the deal.

The truck itself it pretty ****ty. Were gonna yank the column/wheel, the rearend, center crossmember, pedals, fenders and doors. The cab is pretty crummy, the whole floor is cut out, p***anger side cowl wiped out, and the dash is all smashed up from were the column hit the ground and shoved the dash upward (no front axle under it). So the frame, bare cab, junk running boards (smashed up pretty bad and the backs torched off) and flatbed will probably go to the big junkyard in the sky.
We also got 2 more cabs with it, one being pretty crummy and one being really nice. Gonna figure out what to do with them after we get em home

Hi Chris. Just today, scotts52 was looking for somebody to pull an engine and trans out of a 1940 Ford pickup for him in exchange for the truck itself. Search "1940 Ford Truck for free. Just what you need...another one! Hahahahahahaha! I think he's not too far from you...check it out. - Rick

Looks like he reeled you in. The condition of that truck bed looks like it was a planter for at least 10 minutes before you got there,But you did great and goodluck with the build.

The things people do with tin! I hope you got it all for a good price, looks like a lot of usable parts there.

looks like a good score...them ol trucks make cool hot rods. I did the exhaust on a 46 with a 5.0 and AOD...cool cruiser.

  20. I'd get it running, detail the engine and ch***is a little and drive the truck like it is. Some striping/lettering and some cool wheels and you'd have a neat parts chaser. There's been a few flatbeds for sale here locally but they're all 3/4 or 1 ton. Yours looks like a 1/2 ton right?

    Anyway you scored.

My Brother and I each already have one that needs a ton of work, so this one will probably donate a lot of great parts! Yes, it is a 1/2 ton, if it were larger I would probably not have bothered.

Honestly, I would LOVE to do this full time....however, I'm spending money, not making money so it would probably not last too long :D

Yep, the ol truck is already gone. My brother and I attacked it today to part out, keep everything but the bare frame and bare cab. It will live on helping other rigs get on the road!

Chris, another cool score - but how is that 33 coupe coming?

The 33 coupe is not getting much attention right now. I am doing a V8 conversion in my A roadster, so after that (probably spring) I will get back on the model 40. The 33 will probably take me some time to get going.
