the coolest ones are the pair that have something special done to them and the story to go along with them.....you can't buy these off the shelf , but occ***ionally luck into a pair . like a pair of finned vettes with added breathers and small holes added in a fin for a return spring or something. thats the kind of stuff that makes for a cool engine.

I like the American made part. I'd consider the camo when I build my rural ***ault hot rod. You know...after all the **** comes down. :D:D:D

Actually, I love the old CC ones and the vette covers, but I love the old tin script 283 covers just as much. I've got a pair of each.

Not sure if I think these are the coolest I've had , maybe most unique .
For modern ones I think the moon or chineese knockoff , all thick fins .

Bought these early Cal custom 9 fins at the Charlotte autofair swap meet about 4 years ago, Added NOS Cal custom breathers (with small moon decals)and cal custom wing nuts. These valve covers clear the Crane gold roller rockers just fine. As a note- the NOS cal custom carb scoops came from Rocco & Cheaters speed shop. This stuff is still out there !!!

Normally, i don't give a **** about valve covers---as long as they seal up and don't leak oil i'm cool with them.

However, i have to admit, since the question was asked, that i dig the covers with the 50's style steamlined "chevrolet" lettering. Is there a source where these are still available or at least the stenciling?

    2) When/why did chevy switch to blue valve covers.
    b) orange?
    c) black? i know most crate motors now have black valve covers.

    3) Please tell me more about the transparent valve covers.

Those are Keystones. I've never seen the matching wingnuts before though.

30 dollars to make you hollar...lol
"would you like them polished too ? ".....lol

An inside joke between Dooley and I, we were at a swapmeet when unbeknownst to me Dooley looked at these vette covers but didn't ask the price. I seen them and asked and the answer was 30 bucks and he even offered to polish them....lol then I drilled them for the little Moon's

I'm not sure when they came out but you could still get them in '78 from Gratiot Auto Supply... $21.95 for black wrinkle / $24.95 polished

All those finned valve covers look the same whether they are from one company or another, no point in showing them over and over and over and over!

I picked up a set of Offy valve covers (original) for early Staggered bolt cover heads. They have no provision for oil breathers etc so I think they are pretty rare. Definitely cool and I'm stoked to see them on my 265.

  29. I lost a bidding war on ebay a few years ago for a set of those by $1

Yeah... but there's a set of the "other" ones in this thread... oh... never mind. :)
