BARN FRESH ROAD TEST! Model A on the road after 46 year slumber.

I spent the day today finishing up putting the final touches on the new to me engine for my 29. Actually its no where near finished but its a runner now! Seems to me the best thing you can do with an 80 year old engine that hasn't run in god knows how long is to jump in it and see what she'll do as soon as she's running. I'm fully aware my cranking technique leaves something to be desired, the cables were dragging the ground, the garage is a mess, and the camera guy needs a tripod. I was having too much fun to care!

Looks like it was a blast!

 

That made me feel like a kid again! Mainly because the camera man made me as car sick as I used to get in the back seat of my dads Oldsmobile on long trips. Cool though.

 

That is awesome ! What's the plan now?

 

I'm going to leave the body it the way it is except for some fresh paint under the vinyl roof which will have to be replaced to keep it weatherproof. I painted the new engine that went in it just because I like working on clean engines but the original engine is going to be rebuilt and put back in at a later date. I have some '35 Ford wire 16" wheels painted with a nice forest green and with some radial tires on for now just for ride quality and safety. The 21" wheels will be getting cleaned up and repainted the original yellow and get some new whitewall tires when and if I can afford them (again at a later date). This will not be a rat rod... I plan to keep the car as original as possible, but still have a fun driver.

I'm in a similar spot only a few weeks behind you. I got mine running and realized it needed had a broken main stud and needed other things. I found an engine on eBay (I was told it runs) It looks good and has good parts on it. I have it all painted up and ready to swap out. Just need a good day or too to work on it. I am sooo stoked for you!
