Hey i know where a desoto is out in the woods by a friends house. I'm not sure what year it is for sure, early 50's from what i can figure.but was wondering what years had hemi's and if there where any other parts off those cars that people sought out. im just thinking of trading material.
1952 through and including 1957 If it has a tooth filled grille - get it for trade material Post some pics of the car and folks here will tell you what to get
Steppinout is right 1957 was the last Desoto Hemi, in 1958 a few Adventures had fuel injection on a 361 wedge......................Rich
If it turns out to be a '55 or '56, I need parts, so maybe I can help you make $$$ out of it. Yeah, please post a pic, at least front end s we can I.D. it for you, buddy!
I think i will be over there on thursday, I will try and get some pictures and see what is left that is salvagable. Hopefully there will be some good parts someone can use.
Okey-dokey, ClouderBack. Hope it's not too cold when you hike out there to inspect the car again. BTW, IF, IF, IF it's a '50 to '52 with the lighted hood ornament, they are worth good money in decent shape. I just paid $75 for a fair one this summer. The most desirable ones have DeSoto's face made of amber-colored plastic -- the light shown through the back. (Also, I do think the "all-metal" hood ornaments really are NOT. The Hernando DeSoto FACE piece, I'm fairly sure, can be carefully popped out and an amber plastic insert put in there.)
Well i finally made it back out there in the daylight, got the hood open, it had a hemi in it alright. to bad the heads are gone and is just the block there. What can i say i tried.
