The rumors made the already expensive and limited production Adventurer that much more difficult to sell, with the result being that only 590 coupes and 97 convertibles of the 1959 model were built.
In 1959, DeSoto revamped the front end to make it appear wider and lower which gave it a m***ive appearance on the road. Even the engines were bigger too. The Firesweep beholds a 361 cu. in. V8 while the Firedome and Fireflight increased to 383 cu. inches and the Adventurer models offered a dual four-barrel carburetor. Other improvements include swiveling front seats, air suspension in the rear, electronic headlight dimmer, push-****on heater controls and sculpted roofs for more room. Unfortunatley, 1959 would be the last year for DeSoto Station Wagons and Convertibles.
Features on the Adventurer included a Torsion-Aire suspension, Level-Cruise, power steering, Safe-Stop power brakes, push ****on control transmission and sports swivel seats.

I found one of these (1959 ADVENTURER ORIGINAL¡¡¡¡¡¡)and I want to buy, but the question is kustom or not kustom?

if you're planning to build a radical custom, none of this stuff is relevant to your plans because the car would need to be radically customized in all aspects...

my opinion, sell it to the stocker dudes for big bucks, and get something else.

  6. Its really up to you. It really is. You buy it cheap enough and you need to make some money then what the heck, sell it.... especially if its a convertible and its mint. But if its some rusty barn find coupe and you want to build a custom and you've got money in your pocket and time on your hands then there ain't nothing stopping you from doing that is there?

  14. If you like the body style, do your thing to it.......it's cool.. and rare.
Mild Kustom I would have thought, and then drive the wheels off of it.
Take care of the little things too as that can only raise the value.
