Already made the move.... and I'm happy.
It wasn't so much for the politics but the economics.

Ok, I have read it through several times now. As far as I comprehend it, it applies to vehicles with the SVC ***le. I don't see how it applies to a vehicle that is registered as what it is, say a '29A or a '49 Merc. Anybody getting a different read?

That is correct. It does not pertain to ANYONE on here.

They already did it to custom bike builders, now they are doing it to custom car builders. The days of buying an out of state ***le and ***ling your new 32 frame as an original 32 are gone, too many people did it. I do believe this is generally going after "those guys".

That is a different law than SEMA was able to get in a lot of other states, including Arkansas. Here, a replica can be ***led as the year and make it resembles, i.e. 'gl*** or steel replica '32 roadster can be ***led as a '32. Now, I wonder what would happen if someone had a car ***led in AR and it was then sold to someone in CA?

Oh man, you guys trying to get me going for a third time! :D

Look, California's gl*** is half full, not half empty. There is nothing wrong with stopping vehicle fraud....

    Lets talk about hot rods!

GM sent me an e-mail regarding the engine package last week. The LS3 is the 430HP engine from the Corvette. You get everything including the exhaust manifolds, cats and O2 sensors. Oh, and it's $9300+. I'm sure there is quite a bit or mark-up on those engine packages so maybe the dealer would sell you one for $7900. But then again, I'm sure you could get a new 'Vette from the salvage yard too with little mileage for a lot less.

Yes, I know. It's a newer engine and it may not apply. But what happens in Kalifornia has a tendency to spread like a bad rash over the rest of the country. New York is just as screwy and Florida is looking to start this **** as well. And while you guys look down on Street Rodders, remember that many of the parts that are availabile have been aimed at that group. We benefit from that.

As for taxes, keep your receipts. I can see the audit everytime someone tries to register a car, especially with parts bought from out-of-state.

I can see this will also be like building codes on existing buildings. One wall needs to remain standing for it to be considered an 'existing' building. A frame or body shell will needed to be do***ented so that the car is not considered a 'new' build. Pictures and 'paper' are worth gold.
