54 chevy rear 2 link set up

heres my 54 chevy 2 link set up what ya think,later

 

it looks god but i think you mite need some sort of panhard bar to keep the rear centered out on cornering

 

yeah not quite done yet,either a panhard or a watts link not sure yet. right now its completely bolt on except for rear end saddles. thanks

 

This looks like some sort of kit. Where do you get it?

 

ive been messig around building this myself and who knows maybe people would wantto buy it.ive been tryin to make it as user friendly as possible so if anybody was interested i could build it for um.

What I meant was that the front brackets look like they were made on hydraulic punch presses and press brakes, not handmade. I mean that as a compliment actually.

I was just asking for another project that I want to eliminate the leaf springs (not the '58). Thanks.

 

i would use a watts link. its lookin good.

 

I wonder how the rearend will articulate when only one wheel needs to pivot up or down. Most 2 links seem to allow for independent movement by either "twisting" of the truck arm (early 60's chevy trucks) or through heim joints. I would think that if one side travels up, the other side might follow with it. Seems too rigid.
I hope it works, it seems you've spent some time fabricating. I too have a 2 bar setup in progress on a 51 chevy.

 

i made the 2 link bars rigid with cj7 urethane bushing replacements, but there are rod ends now that have a internal pivot joint ive thought about going 2 just havent been rushing, got a lot of time in my car you know how that go's but not lookin for anything but u and down nice and simple and under the floor, have a family so cant loose the back seat. later

Usual issue with rigid mounts at the diff - you need the bars to come to the centre or at least pointing to the front uni on the tailshaft. Otherwise bind, bind, bind and sooner or later, something's got to give.

 

I was just thinking it might be too firm of a ride in the back(for the family), which is why I went with something a little less rigid. Keep us up on the progress. I want to see how you work out the other stuff like springs or bags, shock locations, panhard or watts link.

 

It wont articulate. Same principle as split rear wishbones.

Looks real nice but its not the safest thing in the world.

 

Yeah, I was trying to be subtle, seems like a lot of pretty fabrication, but you know...form follows function.

They look like belltech drop hangers for a 88-98 chevy truck.

 

run a track bar.. go from one link bar corner to opposite corner.. Use some 5/8 heims on some 1.25" tube with a set of tabs. 2 links drive really smooth.
