Alright, I have been stationed here at Camp Pendlton for a year now. I had transfered here from back east. I was stationed here ov er 10 years ago and not much has really changed to the base. It has become more crowded and it has new housing but for the most part it is all the same. That includes the vehicles that are in a storage lot here. I don't know who own the cars but I sure wish I could find out. There is some very cool iron out here and it seems to have been just left. I am not sure but I know that I think about these cars all the time. Maybe some one can shed some light on them.
First and foremost, Thank you, Marine. There has to be a "yard sargent" if your lucky. "Yard leutenant" if your not. They would have the skinny about all questions. I'm shure the Corps woul;d like to get them off the base if theyre abandoned. I'll bring some to Arizona.
First and foremost I want to say that these vehicles are not for sale. I have no idea if they are abondoned or not. However I do know that they have all been sitting there for a few years or more. We see pictures of cars sitting in peoples yards or lots on this website all the time. I thought some of you would like to see some more cl***ic iron. Do not be misled in thinking that any one can come on base and buy or claim these sweet cars. It is just a cool conversation piece. If this post needs to be deleted then by all means delete it.
Thanks for your service! My buddy's son is stationed there and I have heard about these and seen a few pics...there is some nice stuff sitting there
If they're still there, there are also some old Model Ts in the bushes behind a rifle range near Onofre, if I'm not mistaken. I found them while going through SOI in '88, but I bet they're still there. Looked almost like they'd just been abandoned with very few parts missing.
if the cars have been sitting there for "several years" there should be a process by which you can get them. i seriously doubt the powers that be would want "junk" cars just sitting around taking up storage space. having been stationed on camp pen myself for 4 years (thank god i'm no longer in the **** now though) there are channels you can go through to aquire one of these beauties.
Read his reply to me. Hell, I went and swept beaches for them at "P" for amphib exercises. Pay the schmuck a thank you and get barked at.
Sorry czuch, I wasn't replying to you. I didn't see yoru post before I wrote that. Thank you for your support, and I want to thank every one on this board for the support of the military. It means a lot to those of us who are serving and have served this great nation
I looked at a car for sale at Pendleton a couple years ago, seems that they rent spaces out. I don't know if you have to be military, the guy I was working with certainly wasn't active, maybe vets?
Those vehicles are located at the MCCS lot(s) aboard Campen, they are storage lots to allow Marines, sailors, retirees a place to store thier boats, RVs, trailors and cars (projects). To find out who owns those vehicles go to the Rec Center check out office building#1734 (760) 725-5963 located right before you get to the San Luis Rey gate. Now you have to BS with them alittle first, don't just jump straight into asking questions. But they have all the information on the owners and can look them up for you. Now they cannot give out that information but, they CAN call the owner explaining your interest in the vehicle. There are alot of good projects loctaed within those fences, good luck!
That is the long term storage lot. All of these lots should still be managed by PMO and MCCS. The PMO station is on mainside(front gate by near the theater). I would talk to PMO. There are always cars abandoned on Pendleton bikes too. Believe me do not take anything without talking to someone. I had a couple of buddies take an old two axle trailer that sat for three years in a parking lot at Pendleton. they got in a ton of trouble and have charges on them now. The sad thing is sometimes these vehicles belong to some of our fallen. As for old tin abandoned on Pendleton, there are tons of cars ****tered all around the base. I know where two mercs a chevy coupe and a couple of 51 chevys are. I wouldnt worry about taking something from one of the ravines or off in the bushes but those storage lots are paid for.
I used to live in Fallbrook, CA and periodically, the base would auction off the things in storage. This was in 2004.
